Description: The Prince of Wales located in the Upper Richmond Road in Putney is a brilliantly chic and contemporary British boozer. The restored nineteenth century facade belies the gastropub's stylish and cosy interior, and the light-filled dining room is always busy with a creative young crowd. The Prince of Wales menu boasts rustic traditional English dishes such as the crispy pig, dandelion and apple salad; lamb fritters with caper relish; hare and potato pie for two; and beer battered haddock with pea pure, tartare sauce and chips. Perfect for long, lazy Sunday lunches and nights out with friends, the restaurant at The Prince of Wales is a welcome addition to the Putney pub scene.

“Nice food, bit pricy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

Went to the PoW for an early Saturday lunch pre-rugby - Starters were good (pigeon wellington & crab salad) but v. small, burger and bavette steak excellent as was the accompanying pint of Spitfire. The only issue was the cost £60 for two was just too much and maybe why we were one of only two parties eating. I understand that there is an £8.50 week day lunch deal - may be worth adding Saturday to the deal and ensuring that this beautiful dining room is filled the way it deserves to be.

“Good drinking pub otherwise a Masterchef nightmare”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2012

This pub is trying to be something it is not; gastropub prices and pretentious food which it fails to deliver well. My main for £19 (excluding sides) a Duck breast with cold, raw and bloody centre; "seared fois gras", just flabby, bitter pâté. It's a good pub for drinking with pleasant staff and a decent wine/beer menu. They should stick to what they do best - local boozer with basic pub grub on offer.

“Pretentious ,as so many places are unfortunately.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2012

The fish and chips ordered was so expensive that anywhere or at least most other places in Londinium woiuld have been a better deal. I mean Hey !! This costs 13 GBP I can take u round the corner and have it better for 5 so again it is the overheads. I went because was told best place to eat in Putney( by a person who had been to everything here in Putney). Actually I have lived here for 20 years and only place which is " not bad " is Ma Goa all other places are vastly overpriced because the rentals here are high and the people are so rich that they do not care what rubbish they eat.
They go to be with their friends and forgive the rubbish they get given.
So in Putney and most places in the world bad restaurants like this rely on passing trade.
The hype is enormous hence pretentious.
The food is mediocre served as though it was good.
Hey- try the Harwood Arms in Fulham ( I will write one for there ) At least that place has class and a Michelin star for good food unlike this place. Too expensive for what it is with the airs and graces that need to be sat on and demolished. Most places in the restaurant world are " trading under false pretences" We need a change in the law to stop this.
Give us some decent grub or get Michelin starred But don't try and pretend u r giving us something worth paying our money for. but a lot of bankers in Putney will be pleased to give you their ill gotten monies.
I would suggest you study those pubs in Londoin that have made it as far as good food is concerned and try to get up to their standards.
