“Good value, good service. I would recommend this venue for lunch”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2012

I was travelling with a large group (30 people) visiting the Royal Academy for the Hockney exhibition. Lunch had been prebooked for 1pm. On arriving at the venue I noticed that they had posted a message saying that due to a large booking they could not take more lunch orders until 2pm. This seemed efficient pre-planning to me. They managed to servce all the meals in an orderly fashion despite some members of the group being over half an hour late! Service was friendly and efficient thoughout. I had the steak and ale pie as did the previous reviewer, and I enjoyed it. It was good value for money and a good portion.

The previous reviewer has commented on the place being dark and dingy (I think words along those lines) and it is true that being in a basement it may not be the best ambience but this would not deter me from returning. You can do a lot worse in London, in terms of quality of food, value for money, service and ambience too.

“Below average for this location”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2011

To be fair to Walkers, in another location this restaurant/bar could be considered average, but given the local competition within a half mile radius it doesn't really come up to the mark in terms of quality and ambience. The only point in its favour s that it does offer a 'sit down' lunch at a very reasonable price in this immediate area.

To be clear, ths review relates to the basement bar/restaurant at the intersection of Duke Srteet and Jermyn Street in the Picadilly area. We chose Walkers for lunch recently a little too hastily, being in a bit of a rush. The food in fairness is ok, we chose steak & ale pie, however the experience is let down by the venue. This is situated in a basement, is dark & dingy with furniture that has seen better days and a sticky floor.

So if you're looking for a value for money lunch, this place would be ok if you're not too worried about the surroundings. But if you're willing to spend a little more there are plenty of nicer options around.
