I was travelling with a large group (30 people) visiting the Royal Academy for the Hockney exhibition. Lunch had been prebooked for 1pm. On arriving at the venue I noticed that they had posted a message saying that due to a large booking they could not take more lunch orders until 2pm. This seemed efficient pre-planning to me. They managed to servce all the meals in an orderly fashion despite some members of the group being over half an hour late! Service was friendly and efficient thoughout. I had the steak and ale pie as did the previous reviewer, and I enjoyed it. It was good value for money and a good portion.
The previous reviewer has commented on the place being dark and dingy (I think words along those lines) and it is true that being in a basement it may not be the best ambience but this would not deter me from returning. You can do a lot worse in London, in terms of quality of food, value for money, service and ambience too.
