We discovered this place 10 years ago one night wandering near the theatre district. At that time, Chinatown was undergoing renovations and it was pretty much a construction site. This place is on the edge of Chinatown, and we picked it as it shared the name with the local pub near my house in Maryland USA while I was growing up.
Note it is only about 200 metres from the intersection of Shaftesbury Ave and Charing Cross Road.
Recently five of us went there and the place is still great. We shared a 1/2 Peking duck as a starter, and had five entrees w all shared, with ample portions.
I had the best Singapore noodle I ever had there (this is my litmus test for a place).
The only thing I would note is some of the servers have limited English. This is NOT a criticism, just and observation, and a testament to how authentic it is.
Total for all five of us including drinks (mostly soft) was a ridiculous 14 pounds each, including service charge.
This is not only my favorite Chinese place in London, it is my favorite Restaurant in London. Period.
