“Nice Place for a summers evening”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2013

I was looking for a place to eat on a sunny thursday night when i came accross the Clissold Arms. First impressions were good, loads of out door places to sit and a nice friendly welcome. Menu was not amazing as a few of the items on it were only available on sundays. I have the Lamb chops which were lovely followd by the Eton Mess. Both were good portions, although the staff were a little chaotic and seemed to be a little disorganised. I would return but maybe on a sunday when the whole menu is available. It feels this place has a lots of potential but feels like its not being taken advantage of.

“Was expecting better”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2013

We were being taken out for the night. We suggested the venue having looked at a few reviews. We had looked at the menu on line and thought it was a bit narrow but rather expected there would be a specials board; there wasn't! The atmosphere was very good and the service was really pleasant and quick. My starter was excellent. But oh dear the main course!!!!! I ordered bavette of steak, just a style of cut. I have to say it's the worst steak I have had for years, like trying to chew a piece of rubber. I am amazed that a restaurant wanting to retain it's custom served anything like it. It is for this reason that I would not dream of going there again. It was only because we were being invited out and I did not want to spoil the evening that I did not make a fuss about it. They really do not deserve to keep any kind of reputation with food like that.

“Fantastic wedding breakfast!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2013

Have never been to this pub before, but have just got back from a fantastic wedding reception. We had canapés and primms in the garden, which were lovely. Then really good roast beef with all the trimmings and a yummy trio of puddings. There was over 100 guests and everyone's meal was served quickly and hot. Well done to the staff.

“Unhappy Birthday”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

We planned to have a lovely birthday lunch in a well reviewed gastro pub in North London but unfortunately we had a very bad surprise( shame).
We arrived and the garden was pretty full, despite midweek, and we thought that it was a good sign.......busy....means quality.....
We realized pretty soon that attention to details was not very common amongst the staff that missed to serve crudite with bread and water was served twice ....but these were minus details : when we asked for a parasol as the sun was quite strong ...the polish waitress disappeared and only came back when the owner/manager was around......
Waited the food for nearly 45 min and the described hand cut chips became french fries on the way ?????? The most expensive dish on the menu' " Sirloin Steak " was hard......poorly presented and eventually served without steak knife and sauces.........Only 5 min later the stressed polish waitress came with what was missing!!!!!!! No one came to ask how was the meal .......Shame to experience such poor service and food from one of the listed gastro pubs in prestigious dining guides ( including Michelin guide). We just hope , for future customers, that both kitchen and waiting staff had a very bad day . Definitely a place not to go back!

“Fabulous”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

We had a meal for 14 there and they went out of their way to make a fantastic experience. The service, food and wine were outstanding and the level of attention was second to none. Would definitely reccommend.
