“Great Fun & good food in cental location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

We were given our own restaurant room and shared a number of meat and vegetarian dishes which were very good. With the surprise belly dancer - it made the whole evening worth it - just to see my friend's rather bemused faces. The lady who did the dancing was a good sport. Would I recommend this restaurant. yes but probably better for groups maybe rather than couples.

“Very good North-African restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2013

I loved the place, the food, the ambiance... If you want to enjoy a really nice dinner with friends, this is the place. The cocktails are also pretty nice.

“Nice decor, laid back service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2013

We went for a sharing menu for 6 people. One of us is coeliac and was given a few extra bits as an alternative to foods she couldn't eat. The house wine was pretty poor, but the food was delicious - There was far too much of it though. They could afford to reduce the quantities and therefore reduce the price. I felt was a little over priced even with the Tastecard discount of 25%. The seating was tight, but in a cosy way and there are lots of lovely little nooks for more intimate dining.

“Cramped place, with awful food and service! Avoid it!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

We recently ate here at a friend's farewell party. There were 16 of us all cramped into one room, with barely any space to move. We ordered the standard set menu, which was below average. The food had no taste and we had to keep asking the waiter numerous times to refill the mains. Although he wasn't rude, he said that they're busy hence the reason the service was slow. However, I don't recall my main being refill at all - I had to fill myself eating the pitta bread and humus!!!!

The belly dancer came up twice (the 2nd time as a "special request"). With barely any space, it was an irritating experience.

Anyway, given the large crowd, we overpaid for the poor quality in terms of food and service. Avoid this place!

“Grubby”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

We planned to eat in the Souk and whilst looking at the menu ordered two caipirinha's. We already felt slightly nervous as the place seemed dirty and had a grubby feel to it. We were put in the ground floor back room separated from the till area by a dirty red velvet curtain. My low seat felt vaguely damp and sticky - not nice and not very comfortable. Then our caipirinha's arrived, or what the Souk call caipirnha's. Mostly ice, limes and I think soda with some alcohol which was not cachaça as we know it. Decided to cut our loses and leave, but not before we had to pay £18.00 for our drinks. To add insult to injury the waitress didn't have any change of a £20.00 note. However, based on the poor reviews looked like we had a lucky escape.
