Description: Blending the best of the British boozer with a dash of urban cool, The Old Crown is perfect for long lunches, post-shopping refuels and weekend blow-outs. Situated on Londons busy New Oxford Street, its a genuine one-off designed and lived in by the innovative team who own and run it. The reclaimed chandeliers, hand-crafted wooden tables and metallic flock panelling add to the laid-back vibe but the menu clearly means business. It changes weekly to incorporate organic seasonal produce and includes dishes like rump steak with mushroom cream; sea bass with puy lentil dahl; and classic burgers and sandwiches. With the added bonus of a fully stocked bar and some of the friendliest staff in town, its hard not to fall for The Old Crowns charms.

“A rare pleasure.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2013 via mobile

Central London is so full of faceless, chain restaurants and pubs I couldn't believe this place.
The burgers are excellent, though ask for it well done as they come rare as standard. They've won a fair few awards for them now and I can see why. Epic sauce on the OC burger.
They have a great selection of booze, delicious mulled rum and apple, and ciders- all served up by friendly, smiley staff with personality and vim. I really liked the decor, coziness, and even the music was good.
Great atmosphere and a lovely evening.
I hope it doesn't get turned in to a Weatherspoons like everything else in Tottenham Court Road!!

“Fab burgers and gorgeous shakes!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

Currently hosting "burger breakout" you've got a variety of burgers to choose from and a couple of other dishes in case you're odd and don't like burgers. To go for something different would be missing out though. The buns are american style, the patties fully packed and perfectly cooked, and there's also clever unusual touches like gubeen cheese with the chicken burger to give it a really nice flavour.

However.....

I have a sweet tooth and it's the hard shakes that made it SUCH a good night. The Salted Caramel shake - dulche de leche syrup, vanilla ice cream, pretzels and a couple of shots of bourbon are HEAVEN in a glass.

Service swift and friendly.

“Can't think of a better burger ever”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

I went last night for the second time, this time though taking my wife, brother and mother who were keen to see what the fuss was about. Service was great, very friendly and quick with drink orders throughout the night up to and including the shots of Talisker needed to steady my legs from a beautiful meat overload. I braved it and went for the Smoke a Bone "legal meat high", served with a shot of braising liquid. Wife had the Camilla, mother the Pig in a box and brother the Baa-baa baby and we shared the breaded chicken strips and the utter bloody genius bacon ketchup. We all had a try of everything. The chicken was succulent, the burgers perfectly cooked and I think my choice won as best burger. I will be back, with yet more reinforcements.

“Great little gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

I came across this pub a few years back now and what can I say, I absolutely adore it! The ambiance is great and I extremely enjoy the burgers! My particular favourite is the 'Smoke a bone' burger - absolutely delicious. If you're looking for a venue where the staff go out of their way to accomodate you in central London, this is defintely the one!
