Description: If romance is in the cards, London's most romantic restaurant is Covent Garden's multi award-winning Clos Maggiore. Echoing the charming country inns of Provence and Tuscany, the warmly muted decor, low lighting and welcoming log fire were clearly designed with love in mind. The skylight is surrounded with twining, flower-starred branches to resemble an Italianate courtyard, a delightful faux-rural treat in the city centre. Seasonally inspired classic French cuisine coupled with impeccable service is the order of the day at Clos Maggiore restaurant, with a focus on chic presentation and bold flavours. The range of menus include a six-course “tasting menu” featuring such dishes as “Seared Wild Scallops, Ratte Potato & Winter Truffle” and “Pan Roasted Fillet of Cornish Cod, Olive Oil & Basil Pomme Purée”. In addition Clos Maggiore serves a reasonably priced, regularly changing set lunch and pre-theatre menus. To find the perfect complement Clos Maggiore’s extensive cellar includes over 2,000 labels and was extended earlier this year to include an additional 400 wines at a low – mid price range. They have been awarded the “Best of Award of Excellence” consistently since 2003 by Wine Spectator. The Michelin Guide and AA Restaurant Guide have fêted their wine selection as worthy of note. Clos Maggiore has been voted in the “Top Ten” categories for “Best French Restaurants‟, “Best Ambiance‟ and “Special Occasion Restaurants‟ by opentable. Toptable lists Clos Maggiore as one of the most highly rated dining venues in London and Square Meal lists Clos Maggiore as one of the best restaurants with Private Rooms.

“Excellent food, exceptional service and atmosphere.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013 via mobile

Our second time visiting, was just as wonderful as our first. Upon a friendly welcome by all the staff we were seated in the beautiful conservatory. The waiters were very friendly, attentive, and on hand to help, espeshially on their wine expertise. The food service and presentation was wonderful, and each course was delicious and filling! They made us feel very comfortable, we thouroly enjoyed ourselves, and would highly recommend this restaurant.

“What a lovely place.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013

We were lucky enough to be seated in the elegant and very atmospheric conservatory. We ate the fixed price menu, which was delicious and very good value. Service was efficient without being overbearing. Great experience which we would definitely repeat.

“Superb, Best prix fix in london”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2013

I love this place.
I have been several times and it never fails to impress. The décor and ambience are romantic and refined. The service is attentive, friendly and nuanced.
It is a pricey place, but the pre-theatre/post theatre dinner menu makes it affordable. It is only these menu's that I can comment on, but they are sublime. Any choice you make will be good one, and it is easy to choose courses that will be complemented by the accompanying wine. If in any doubt, the sommeliers will be called. They are passionate about their job and their descriptions prepare your palette for the delightful wines you are about to imbibe.
The portions are good, but the flavours keep their potency throughout the dishes. The starters are consistently excellent, and the mains are truly luxuriant meals.
I have little experience of their desserts, instead enjoying rich coffee and petit-fours to complete my evenings.
A fantastic place to take the woman in your life. I also eat here with my brothers and parents when we are all in London, which is rare these days as my siblings and I work in Africa and Aisa. Its a great place to come back to that never disappoints.

“LUNCH”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2013

Managed to get a table for lunch without booking (but would advise to!), very impressed with the quality of the dishes. My crab an celeriac starter was good, seasoning slightly off though. Cod and vermicelli main was very clever, excellent and beautifully cooked, same for cherry and almond ice cream pudding (with a small almond cake). £26.95 including half bottle of good quality Sicilian white wine is great value for this location. So, a really enjoyable lunch, staff could 'lighten-up' a bit (it's not Alain Ducasse, so why the formality?) - would definitely go again next time in town.

“Excellent Service really good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2013

OK it was a 10.30 booking for an after show meal. I had been on the web site and as I am married to a non meat eater was taken with there slow cooked menu, however I did not read the small print and this was not available after 6pm.

Never mind the food we had was good if the menu was a tad limited, but not bad prices by this area of London. The sweet I had was outstanding and worth the visit just for that.

Wine list was extensive if a little pricey but good value was had if you went for the less trendy parts of France.

Service through out was excellent and worth more than the 12.5% charged as standard, again why do restaurants do this. I will not tip any restaurant that continues with this ubiquitous levy.

The much heralded "romantic" tag was lost on me but not the guy who proposed on the next table, she said yes and we wish them good luck.
