Description: If romance is in the cards, London's most romantic restaurant is Covent Garden's multi award-winning Clos Maggiore. Echoing the charming country inns of Provence and Tuscany, the warmly muted decor, low lighting and welcoming log fire were clearly designed with love in mind. The skylight is surrounded with twining, flower-starred branches to resemble an Italianate courtyard, a delightful faux-rural treat in the city centre. Seasonally inspired classic French cuisine coupled with impeccable service is the order of the day at Clos Maggiore restaurant, with a focus on chic presentation and bold flavours. The range of menus include a six-course "tasting menu" featuring such dishes as "Seared Wild Scallops, Ratte Potato & Winter Truffle" and "Pan Roasted Fillet of Cornish Cod, Olive Oil & Basil Pomme Puree". In addition Clos Maggiore serves a reasonably priced, regularly changing set lunch and pre-theatre menus. To find the perfect complement Clos Maggiore's extensive cellar includes over 2500 labels and was extended earlier this year to include an additional 400 wines at a low - mid price range. They have recently been awarded the "The Grand Wine Award 2014" by the Wine Spectator - one of only 70 restaurants worldwide to receive this accolade. Clos Maggiore has been voted in the "Top Ten" categories for "Best French Restaurants", "Best Ambiance" and "Special Occasion Restaurants" by opentable. Toptable lists Clos Maggiore as one of the most highly rated dining venues in London and Square Meal lists Clos Maggiore as one of the best restaurants with Private Rooms.

“What a place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2013

We came here the day after we were married for a romantic dinner and i was so pleased. It was such a romantic setting, we didn't get seated in the conservatory but were still by a roaring fireplace. The staff were so attentive without being overbearing and the food was just gorgeous! It really is one of the best places i've eaten!

“Pre theatre dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2013

We were taken to this resturant by friends for my 65th birthday and it was a first visit for all four of us. We had to eat early as we were booked for the theatre at 7pm. From entering the resturant until the time we left was a lovely experience! The staff were attentive but not too obtrusive, the ambience was superb and the food was superb. Loved the decor, the flowers and plants. Also great wine list! All in all a wonderful oasis of calm in the middle of Covent garden!

“Excellent food and atmosphere for a good price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

We went there to celebrate our anniversary and we managed to get a table in the conservatory.
The atmosphere was romantic and quiet, the room not noisy and the table was quite big for two.
We went for a set menu of 3 courses and half a bottle of wine for £25.5 each.
The food was an amazing surprise, taste and texture were very well balanced like you would expect in a multi Michelin starred place.
I had an handmade pickled haring with baby potatoes, dill and mustard salad as starter; followed by a pan fried Pollock with prawns and lobster bisque. My gf went for meat having an incredibly tasty celeriac soup followed by stewed ox cheeks and braised vegetables.
Desserts were indulgent, we had vanilla pannacotta with some nice small handmade warm cakes and handmade fresh season fruit ice cream.
The wine was good as well. The service was discreet with a lot of attention to detail.
Definitely a place to recommend and to be try again and again!

“not as advertised”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

We went Saturday 16th March 2013,
Booked based on the pictures as a romantic evening in a lovely setting, booked a month in advance to make up for a supposedly romantic meal booked at another resturant for our anniversary (which was poor to say the least).
The food at Clos was excellent and the staff very attentive unfortunately we were not seated in the nice romantic setting as described on the website and to be honest we could have been in any reasonable restaurant. when we asked why we were not in the nicer part we were told there are no guarantees where we would be seated even if we booked many months in advance and even if we specifically ask for the romantic conservatory.so no point in re booking than.
