“Disappointing experience”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2014

We ordered Peking Duck for starter and got roast duck instead. The senior waitress said this was their best attempt, which was both unbelievable and disappointing. The rest of the meals was just as bad including the desserts. It doesn't take a chef to make red bean paste pancake and they couldn't even cook this. The food is expensive, waiters and waitresses poorly trained and standard of cooking below par. I would not recommend this restaurant to my enemies.

“Expensive and not giving value for money”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2014

When paying more you expect more, Royal China does not deliver.
Staff is rude and seems quite uninterested of giving the guests any added value, such as a smile or some nice words. Well, it is maybe to much expected in a Chinese restaurant where smiles in general are rare. My recommendation is that if you want to eat chinese, go to Chinatown instead"

“Good Chinese food in London”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2014

We dined here for the first time with friends who are regulars.

The food was generally very good and of high quality.

We had duck to start which was really excellent. Half a duck went a long way but there were far too few pancakes and trimmings to go with it. We had to keep asking for more, but the lady actually serving us was rather brusque and surly.

Royal China could be really excellent if it sorted out the service..!

“Why???”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2014

Last night invited to meeting held in side room. Unlike this venue's usual food standard.....my local Holloway Rd take-away does it better! For example....Peking duck with pancakes! A member of staff put bits of duck and greens into pancake and rolled it up...and when she had a bowl full it was brought to the table. Result..we were eating stone cold food. Not impressed! Staff kept forgetting drinks orders and had to be reminded.Rest of dishes very unimpressive. I suspect this branch is just not set up for mass catering.I looked at what was being served in the main restaurant and there was a vast difference!!!

“My most favourite Chinese restaurant in London”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2014

Top quality food, fresh ingredients and a good service. Decor also amazing. I was told it's one of the best Chinese restaurants in London and I wasn't disappointed.
