Cafe Rouge has branches all over the UK. if you like French food in a reasonably sort-of French atmosphere, try it - you won't be disappointed.

“Average food, but great service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2013

Their menu states the 'Soup of the Day' is vegetarian. Last night it was Lobster Soup. That was a surprise.

Half the main courses on the evening set menu were 'off'. There was not enough bread to finish the pate, a miserly portion of salad for a main course, the green beans terribly overcooked... I could go on, but overall, it was about par with a Little Chef.

On the plus side the staff were marvellous, gave us a great table, ideal for small children, lots of colouring sheets and stickers. They could not have been nicer or more accomodating, fetching everything we needed, no trouble. Again, a bit like Little Chef.

As a place to take the family and relax, it's great. Just don't expect a good meal.

“Girlie Lunch - Dreadful salad Nicoise”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2013

Went out with a girlfriend for lunch. I chose the Tuna Nicoise salad. The tuna was all mixed with mayo (I had hoped it would be fresh tuna) but it was really rank.

Otherwise it was OK but it wasn't difficult & they mucked it up - probably won't go back as it was disappointing

“Creme Brulee - 1, Bearnaise Sauce - 0”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2013

In the centre of bustling Wimbledon Village, Cafe Rouge has some of the comfiest of seats at its tables - much needed to rest the aching limbs after a period of shopping. The menu is standard throughout the chain, but service is not. Here the staff are generally warm, friendly and efficient. The food is middle of the road with the Minute Steaks cooked suitably to taste, but they are nothing special. Bearnaise sauce is offered amongst others, but in the luncheon rush what came was running with oil and lacking skilled creation. You can't really get a Croque Monsieur wrong as was proven. Finally a cafe gourmand included a Creme Brulee which was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. That dessert would have happily graced the table of a a Michelin establishment and erased memories of the Bearnaise.

“Good Food/Great for a quick dinner!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2012

Just a standard chain food place to eat! We decided to pop in for a quick dinner and although the menu was limited (and a little over priced) the service was good and the food as expected.
