“One of the best”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012

I've eaten at various Indian restaurants in Manchester, West Yorkshire and London, but this one ranks among the best. Frankly I'm surprised not to see it ranked higher on TA.
The food is spot on for a home-cooked loving North Indian like me, especially the lamb rogan josh. I usually find vegetarian dishes in some Indian restaurants iffy, but not here.
The location and standard of decor were also very good. I'd even bring my vegetarian parents to this place, so it must be good!

“Christmas Party”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

We were a bit sceptical about our christmas dinner being held here but no need. Although the menu wasn't a traiditional xmas dinner, the food was excellent and the service was great. There was a full atmosphere about the place and I would definitely go there again.

“Disappointing!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012

After spending time reading reviews on different restaurants in Liverpool we decided on MAYUR. 1st impressions were good, the decor great and the staff friendly. Then it all went a bit wrong, Jalfrezi can only be described as a stir-fry, no sauce at all when the description states an onion gravy sauce.Chicken Tikka Massala was better, but not the usual creamy mild sauce, it was quite spicy, and our daughter had just plain chicken tikka which had no taste at all, just cooked chicken. All in all the starter was the best dish, and the £90.00 bill topped off a poor experience.

“Very disappointed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012

I visited this establishment as part of weekend visit to Liverpool and must say what a disappointment. We arrived and asked for a table for two, we were asked if we had booked, in a half empty restaurant?, we replied that no we had not so were then directed to a table next to a loud stag party group at the back of the room, we declined this table and were then moved to very pleasant table at the front of the room, what was that all about. Incidentally there were several empty nice tables throughout our visit… The meals served were average with very small portions and were not what was expected for this type of establishment. My starter and curry tasted just like lightly spiced tinned chopped tomatoes with a few pieces of seafood/chicken added. My wife’s food was a little better but still not up to standard, I cook a lot of Indian food myself and would say that I could easily have served up better tasting food and would definitely have put more actual fish and meat in the dish for the price charged.

“Classy place, lovely staff, amazing food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012

The lamb here is the most tender we have ever eaten. First tired this on a living social voucher. Glad we got 2 vouchers, just incase it was good. Glad we did as we got 2 fantastic bargains. We have been back many times since.

The most recent was for my birthday, party of 9. The owner greeted us and asked if it was for a birthday. I was given a glass of champagne as a welcome and congratulations. The owner was really chatty, recommendin dishes, making us laugh. It was a really nice touch, and he finished it off by giving us all a free shot of Sambuka and free birthday cake.

Ok, the bill was expensive, with added service charge, but for how the experience went, we did not begrudge it in any way. a 2 couple 2 course meal with a drink would be about £60 here, so not cheap, but the if you are going to pay it anywhere, pay it here, as every meal has been faultless so far.

The owner even saw our whole party our to the door and said he hoped to see us down the albert dock later that night for a drink! Just shows, it pays to be friendly as we will always return to places where staff make customers like us feel so welcome!
