“Lovely Hotel, but expensive!!”

Hard Days Night Hotel

Milton Keynes

We booked this hotel after deciding we really wanted to visit Liverpool to do the whole Beatles thing, so this was a great place to stay.

We arrived late after being held up on the motorway, but was able to call ahead & change the time of our prebooked Fab Four Taxi Tour, which was really helpful (we'd have only had ten minutes to check in & be out again other wise!!)

On arrival we were shown to our room & everything was explained to us, down to the remote lightswitches & the electronic safe in the wardrobe.

It really is a well done out hotel, with the obvious Beatles pictures & music playing. The only downside is that you do feel a little uncomfortable in the evenings, as it's an expensive hotel, so the richer people seem to go there & you feel a little underdressed - I think the motto of Bar Four is 'dress to impress', maybe it's just something we're not used to - but it didn't stop us enjoying ourselves all the same.

There were some noise issues, but we expected them as we were staying in a city centre hotel, and it didn't keep us awake at all. Needless to say, the fire alarm that went off at 2.30am on our first night did!!!

The meal that was included in our package at The Brasserie was good, but not outstanding. OH had salmon with green beans (it was supposed to come with dill creme fraiche but he doesn't like dill so that was left off no problem). What we stupidly didn't realise was that it was literally Salmon, green beans and a few carrots!! I had steak with loads of chips, so he shared them (oh how silly we felt!!) My steak was lovely, although not cooked to how I asked, but was starving so really couldn't be worried to complain about it.

Breakfast was a great selection of continental or full english, which were both good.

Overall it's a lovely hotel, but it's a one off, purely down to the cost of it. I would say you really would have to be a die hard Beatles fan, or have pots of money to make this a worthwhile stay again.

I have not stayed in this hotel so i have no comment to make re rooms etc, my review is with re to an event that took place on beatles day, i went there to buy tickets for (10-07-08) - beatles day. whilst i was waiting for tickets, i asked staff who were playing, a member of staff produced a set list - he read out several bands, the name on the bottam of the list was noel gallagher, he read all of the names out, i was then informed it was originally a free concert, but since people found out noel gallagher was attending, they had to sell tickets. Surprise surprise - noel gallagher never appeared!!!!. I asked the same member of staff (after the concert) why i was told noel gallagher was playing, he said his name was on list as he was a guest in hotel, if this is true then it is not very security conscious for hotel staff to carry around private details of customers and let members of the public have access to them, i was very insulted that this member of staff lied to my face, if it was just a rumour re this matter,it would be acceptable that he did not play, but as i was informed by staff and shown a setlist, it seems to me that underhand tactics were used as a ploy to sell more tickets - also the final band that performed were rubbish, well at least the lead singer was, he was very drunk, fell over on stage and could not focus enough to even sing in to the microphone, in fact a gentleman had to go on stage and take over his guitar work (who also had a bad attitude and called the crowd '[-]') - needless to say these were booed off of stage at the end of the night - this does not bode well for the hotel as a whole - i for one will never be a customer at this hotel again, i am very disapointed that i was misled by members of staff, also the hotel is very upmarket and stuffy and i do not feel it is a good representation of the beatles - if you are looking for a good night with re to the beatles - i would recomend - the cavern club / pub, lennons bar and a small pub called the grapes, where the staff are friendlier and the atmosphere is a lot more down to earth.

“Great Concept but a few teething problems”

Hard Days Night Hotel

Jul 10, 2008

Having been warned of the noise problem, we insisted on a quiet room next to the Peace Garden-we seem to have traded off space for quiet as the room was very small with some silly design flaws. It could never be described as'luxury'.
Other issues-the parking is a bore; the staff are either very good or indifferent and are clearly torn between the attention they give to the residents as opposed to the casual visitors.
One very silly mistake-on the Sunday afternoon the music being played was NOT Beatles . That same evening the Blakes restaurant was closed and the information given out about meal/restaurant times was consistently wrong.
The location and cleanliness are excellent but it is now time for the hotel to take stock of its first few months and correct the obvious problems.

“Great hotel, excellent location”

Hard Days Night Hotel

We stayed here for one night for my birthday in late June, and carefully researched the hotels to get a good location and a certain level of luxury.

A Hard Days night didn't let us down. The hotel is spotless and still smells new. The staff, without exception, were extremely friendly. The public areas are fab with the obvious Beatles reference everywhere (the lift shaft and the staircase were particularly snazzy), and the bar is an excellent meeting place for both residents and locals - reasonably priced too.

We didn't eat in Blakes, but instead dined at The Restaurant Bar & Grill which is only two blocks away, although again Blakes looked really nice, reasonably priced, and very modern. The hotel is very well located for Bars, Shopping, and The Albert Dock too. We requested a quiet room, and I'm glad we did (slept soundly all night, despite the pillow options either being too high or too low!!).

The only factor which stopped me giving this hotel a full five star rating was the price. We got a good deal by shopping around on the internet, but had I have paid full price I would have been disappointed. The fixtures and fittings in the bedrooms don't command full price (poorly fitted fixtures in the bathroom, and badly cut carpets which didn't fit the room properly). Also, my personal preference, but I thought that the rooms were decorated quite dark, and our picture of George Harrison above our bed was just plain spooky!!

That said, I would definitely stay here again if we were to come to Liverpool again. One tip too - go and have a drink or tapas at Alma de Cuba on Seel Street. It's in a converted church and is very impressive.

“BEAUTIFUL HOTEL BUT A FEW THINGS LACKING”

Hard Days Night Hotel

I recently took my Girlfriend to the Hard Day's Night and I have to say it was visually stunning. The exterior of the hotel has frosted glass portraits of the band as windows and 4 statues on 2nd floor level, almost like the saints outside a church.
Inside the first things you notice are the Beatle's themed paintings and prints, obviously, but it is worth looking at the ceiling which is decorated with sheet music. Quirky and fun and looks surprisingly good.
Check in was easy, but our room wasn't ready for us. Since we had arrived at 11 am this wasn't exactly a surprise. We left our luggage with reception and went for a walk around. The hotel is in the centre of the " Cavern Quarter " and was literally 300 yards from the Cavern itself. After an hour or two and a nice lunch in Revolution we went back and were given our room key.
I have to say, I had a slight issue at this point, as we were offered no directions to our room, no assistance with our bags and weren't even told our room number. The number was written on our room card and we followed some other residents to the lifts.
The room itself was beautiful, massive bed, around 6ft by 6ft, 32 inch Samsung flat screen TV, bathroom with bath and shower attachment and a separate shower cubicle too. Room service was prompt even at 3:00 am. Other people have mentioned problems with noise but we had no trouble at all and I'm a very light sleeper.
We spent quite a bit of time in Bar 4, which is nice and has great service, but the staff seemed a little stand offish. Ordering at the bar seemed to be frowned upon in favour of table service, which was very courteous and professional, but when I'm in a new city I find that bar staff are the best people to give you any inside tips you need. There simply wasn't a chance to stand and chat with the bar staff. Although I did run into some of the staff in a different bar when they'd clocked off and they apologised and explained that they were instructed not to encourage people to "loiter" around the bar as it was "common" looking.
To sum up, this hotel looks great but the experience just lacks that certain something. It's almost as if it's still trying to work out it's bugs. I would go back though and would recommend it, I just wouldn't expect as much this time around. Which would probably mean I'd be pleasantly surprised this time.
