As one reviewer has already said ---- some people must be easily pleased! Went to this pub/hotel for lunch this week. We arrived at 11.55 only to be told by a very sour faced lady that lunch wasn't served before 12 O'clock! It felt as though we weren't welcome/shouldn't be there. Alarm bells should have been ringing but we asked if we could go in and our request was met with an unfriendly nod. One of our two meals was passable ---- ham, eggs and chips ---- but mine was just about the worst I've ever had. I ordered the beef and ale pie, chips and peas. When the food arrived, there were no peas, just a mushy mess of carrots and swede. The 'carrots' were a most peculiar colour and the texture was so unpleasant I had to remove the small amount I was brave enough to try from my mouth. I wonder how long these vegetables had been hanging around ---- leftovers from previous days I suspect. The pie had a strange taste to it and the gravy was gloopy and unpleasant. The chips weren't hot enough. The cutlery looked dirty so we picked out some more --- only to find the same applied. The only thing I can say is that the food was cheap! I suppose you get what you pay for. The pub looks lovely from outside but appeared grubby inside and is desperately in need of decoration. Unfriendly and the food is a total waste of money. Nothing could persuade me to eat there again and I certainly don't recommend it.
