We found an amazing holiday flying from Liverpool, absolute bargain!! Living in the North East Liverpool is a good 3 hour drive away so we were definately going to have to over night. Looking through brochures I could only find the Marriott Hotel for Liverpool Airport and they were charging £45pp for a room with breakfast and parking!! This was going to make our cheap deal not so cheap!!!

I decided to have a search on the net and came across this little gem, the Gateway Lodge! The guest house was literally 2 mins to the airport. On arrival we were offered tea/coffee and our bags were taken up to our room. We were shown round our room - which was very big, clean and bright.

The guest house doesn't provide evening meals but are quite happy for you to order a take-away and eat it in their bar area. We decided to have a look round the local area and there is a retail park 2 minutes up the road which has a Pizza Hut.

The hotel does allow you to pay for breakfast - only £5 but does quite full so you may need to book this when you reserve your room. Also parking is available at only £3 per day. The gates are locked on a evening so it seemed very secure.

The couple who owned the Gateway Lodge were lovely and couldn't do enough for you - it was a steal at only £20pp. Would definately return!!!

“A great find at Liverpool Airport”

We came across this Guest House whilst looking for reviews with Trip Advisor, so after reading the one review, decided to book a room, I am so glad we did, What a find, there are not a lot of places to stay around the Airport as apposed to Manchester Airport but I hope this little Guest House gets a lot of business now that two people have written reviews, Booking in was very good and the welcome was excellent, the rooms were lovely and clean obviously new. As we were only staying til 4.30am we didnt require breakfast so therefore, cannot comment,. The owner booked us a taxi so that we could get to the Airport with our cases, but on our return when we rang a local taxi firm they informed us that there would be a half an hour wait, My husband decided to walk which took only about 5-7 mins and we stayed at the Airport and waited for him past the Roundabout which was ideal. Would recommend this Guest House as it was so convenient .

What a find, we will certainly use this Guest house again. 2 mins in a taxi to the airport cost us £2.00 and on our return we walked back in about 8-10 mins to collect our car which we had left at the guest house for a small charge.
On our arrival we were greeted with a friendly welcome and the offer of a hot drink. (There is also tea/coffee facilities in the room)
Our room was very warm, clean and comfortable with a lovely en-suite bathroom. We had a nice evening in the resident quiet bar before enjoying a comfortable nights sleep. Very good value for money.
