“Ideal place for a weekend break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2014

Me and a friend stayed here 12th september - 14th. We had a twin room which was small but really all we needed the room was very clean and we got our breakfast both days as it is complimentary at the weekend. The breakfast was nice although was not keen on the sausage the staff were very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this place and if in liverpool again i would stay here.

Stayed for two nights in late August.

Nice welcome from the manager Jack. Very pleasantly surprised by my room for the price. Clean, modern with nice shower room.

Popped down to the pub, they had a lot of guest ales on and the food was reasonably priced and excellent to taste.

Finally Joseph the owner came over to introduce himself. He was a lovely man, great to talk to and even bought me a pint!

Highly recommended.

When we arrived we were treated very nicely and shown up to our room. The room was gorgeous and very modern. We had a twin room and it was perfect size. Tea and coffee so what more could you ask for. The bathroom was an ok size for us no complaints there.

The downside was we seemed to be next to a generator outside the window so that was very loud all night. The room was also incredibly stuffy. Far too hot to sleep. Although I can imagine most times of year it doesn't get stuffy!

I would recommend staying here but ask for a fan if it's summer!

We stayed here during last week for my husband's graduation, and I was very pleased with this little but comfy B and B. The staff amazingly friendly and helpful, the room and bathroom small but nice, tidy and comfortable (specially the bed and the duvet). A little bit noisy during daytime as it is located in a very busy avenue (not a problem during the nights). My husband was a little bit troubled with the curtains because they let the light come trough (for me not a problem at all). Nice temperature, however, we stayed here during july, maybe during winter it can be a little bit cold as they don't have isolate windows. Breakfast is included only during weekends (not a problem for me either because I don't usually like and eat breakfast at b&b's) but we ate it on saturday and I was very pleased, chef quality food and produce, not the average bed and breakfast greasy-only-one-option-food and they have healthy choices if you ask

I stayed for one night. I arrived quite late and was shown to my room quickly and efficiently after being asked to pay. The room was depressing. Although it was clean and quite modern, it ws not welcoming. There were two screws on the wall where the TV had been. So no TV! No lamp to read in bed. Just a pokey ceiling light.also there was no double glazing so the room was a little noisy. There was a venician blind but no curtains.
The bathroom was ok but cheaply put together. A big plus was that the bed was comfortable with a lovely duvet. So I slept well.
There was no breakfast facility.
I would noT have minded if it was cheap but for £60 for a single it is not good value. I don't think I shall use this hotel again.

We stayed in at 24 Catharine Street Hotel this weekend. Well, what a welcome! Within minutes we felt like we were part of the family! Joe was extremely accommodating even though we were three hours early!! We had a bit of lunch while waiting for our rooms. Food was outstanding. So we booked for dinner too which did not disappoint! All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms whilst small, were beautifully decorated, and very clean. The bed was very comfortable. Staff were interested to know out feedback so that they could improve our stay in any way. Location wise was perfect, right by the Anglican Church, right by LIPA and ten minute walk passed beautiful buildings to get to town. We were so lucky to be there the weekend the local university put on a carnival which went right outside our door and was very impressive! We would definitely come back again and recommend this hotel, that is full of life and character, to everyone! Thanks Joe to you and your staff for giving being part of our wonderful memories of Liverpool. Donna, Mike, Gwen, Ann and David xxxx

Stayed here last night with my mum. We arrived too early to check in but staff happily took our cases and advised us on where to spend an hour before returning to collect our keys.

Room itself was nice, decorated well and comfortable. Bathroom was exceptionally clean which was pleasing.

Thought it easier to list positives and some general feedback....

POSITIVES:
* Amazingly friendly and knowledgeable staff. Happy to direct us to sightseeing places within the local area
* Location is good, within walking distance of town but nice and quiet at night time when you want to sleep
* Super clean
* Lovely breakfast the next day included in the price of our room. If this is any indication as to how the food is in the pub then we missed out not eating here during the day we stayed. Food was spot on.
* Lovely comfortable beds and crisp clean bed linen

DEVELOPMENT POINTS:
* Black out blinds....The sun coming through the venetian blinds woke me at 6:30am and I struggled then to sleep again
* More than 1 bath towel each as standard, a hand towel in the bathroom would have been helpful
* No TV in the room as it had broken that day. Initially we didn't think this would be a problem, but it would have been a nice gesture to have offered us some form of compensation for this, even just a free drink in the bar

Overall a very good stay and am keen to return here later in the year
