“Far too much for the money!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2013

Tried the early bird two course menu for just under a tenner. Intended to have third course(couldn't hack it). Great value for money. Not just quantity the food was spot on.The place clean & well furnished. Staff friendly & helpful. Will be back, maybe later in the evening when there's more people in.

“Lovely atmosphere, lovely staff but sadly the food lets it down.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2013 via mobile

Spent a great night here with my parents and grandchildren, the atmosphere was nice and relaxed and the staff are lovely but I was very disappointed with the food, it looks good on the menus and on the plate but it was lacking flavour and just didn't have that authentic Greek taste. We had a range of starters, dips are lovely but anything fried was far too greasy. The meatballs tasted like the mince meat was the cheapest they could source, the fish platte came with 2 steamed salmon fillets, plain steamed so nothing special, 4 fried sardines, they tasted too greasy as did the pound of sprats and calamari, the sea bass was ok as was the 2 king prawns but the whole thing lacked seasoning and was unimaginative and simply boring. The lamb klefticof was far to salty and, again, it lacked that distinctive Greek flavour. The moussaka would have been nice except for the cheap mince meat used, it really let the dish down big time. I have tasted some fantastic Greek food and I love to cook myself, my herb garden is vast and well used and I have a good understanding of flavour and seasoning so I am being fair with this review because I didn't get even a hint of basil or origarno, garlic or pepper in any of the dishes we ordered, just not authentic Greek. :-(

“Staff lovely, great effort made just not amazing food :(”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2013

with so many good reviews I thought I had to visit this place. Myself and my partner wanted a treat and wanted to try something different...

We were greeted at the door at 1830 and seated by the window. Sadly we were the only people there until a crowd of girls came in at 1900. Then a couple more tables began to fill up...

We were given a plate of olives, carrots and chillies to nibble on and had our order taken. The staff were very attentive and quick to serve us as our starters arrived in no time at all...

Also given a basket of complementary bread....

I must say, the starters were lovely. The calamari had a nice crispy batter and were cooked perfectly and there was plenty of them for a starter. Could have done with some kind of dipping sauce though. That was the only thing missing from them...The meatballs were lovely too. Completely different to what I have tasted in the past!...Sadly the bread was not fresh. It was heated but when it cooled it was stale.

Our plates were quickly cleaned away by one of the waiters...

2 x Mixed Grills - Pork Kebab, Chicken Kebab, Lamb chop, Sheftalia, Lucanica, Halloumi and lountza

Also brought over a salad with feta cheese, peppers, black olives, cucumber etc...
Also given some crispy potatoes and rice...

The grill really disappointed us...the chicken and pork kebab was extremely dry. The lamb chop was nice though....Also however, one of the spicy sausages was cut lengthways in half, they didn't even give us a full one. Although, I couldn't eat it anyway as it was so hard. Again could have done with some kind of dipping sauce for the meat to moisten it up...

As for the sides...the potatoes were nice, the salad was lovely and fresh, the rice wasn't very exciting.

When we asked for the bill we were brought over a plate of melon and slices of orange. We were also given good old fashioned Turkish delight.

You are probably wondering why I didn't say something. Well, because my heart went out to them. They were very quiet, and the service was good, they were really trying, but the food just wasn't up to standard....

Would i go back, probably not as it wasn't exciting. The starters were great however I think this restaurant has lost sight slightly as to what's important...The sweets and fruit at the end were not necessary, and I felt bad sending back half the sides because we simply couldn't finish them. Concentrate on improving the mains and this restaurant with the staff will go far!

“Fantastic Food and Friendly Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2013

We were on holiday in the area and our visit was very much a blind date...... hungry.....fancy Greek...search Trip Advisor then get the Tom Tom out ! What a find. From the moment we walked in, we felt VERY welcome. Liverpudlian's are of course like this ( I am one by birth !! ) anyway but the waiting staff were very attentive, good humoured and informative. Some of our party had the 9.95 special ( skewered pork and chicken combo ) whilst others had a meal from the a la carte menu ( stifado and kleftiko). All were delicious - with good portions - and as others have noted, things which are extras in some other places come as standard here and are topped up on request. Dont stop to query what seem to be relatively inexpensive prices.....this is authentic Greek cuisine served in a great city by nice people. Definitely going back.
