4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2013

Stayed here for two nights, a Friday and a Saturday.
The hotel is based in a converted warehouse and they have done a terrific job with exposed ironwork, brickwork etc. Spectacular.
The room (312) was great, clean, big bed, bath etc. No complaints whatsoever.
Location is great too, right on the dock with bars, restaurants etc on the doorstep and city centre close by.
Parking was reasonable £7.50 for 24 hours. All great.
The breakfast was also fine, wide range, not the highest standard, but for a "budget" hotel, more than expected.
Staff were great, the night reception man even ordered us a take-away when we got in and delivered it to the room.
Absolutely brilliant.
BUT.... while going to sleep both nights was fine (we were at a wedding and had imbued), both mornings we were woken by a nearby bar emptying bottles etc at 7.30am, which came complete with shouting etc. The hotel cannot do much about this realistically but we were on the third floor and it was still loud! There may be noise late at night but that wasn't a problem for us but a lie-in would have been nice.
Apart from that, for the price, excellent. Would certainly go back without hesitation.

Room Tip: Would suggest the higher, the better

Dear James003,

Thank you for taking the time to review the hotel. I am very happy to read that you found the team and hotel were excellent.

As a city centre location, we can encounter some noise, and for which most, we are unable to control.

I actively work with the local businesses to ensure that we all work to guidelines which prevent individual business activities impinging on one another. Your feedback will be conveyed back to them, so we can discuss in further detail.

Thanks for an informative review of the hotel and dock area, and we look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

Regards

Ian Callaghan

This is a very quirky PI with lovely large rooms set in a converted dockside warehouse. I stayed here for two nights. Thursday night was faultless, Friday night an utter nightmare due to noise disturbance.

On Friday night there was the incessant distant bass thumping of music, I guess from a club or bar. There are also the paper-thin walls between rooms… A call was made to reception in the early hours of Saturday morning as a TV in an adjacent room was clearly audible in our room making sleep impossible; it was as though the TV itself was in our room. The staff dealt with this promptly. Once the TV was quietened one could actually hear the guests in the next room breathing… no, I am NOT joking, you really could. Outside, in the corridor were the returning revellers, and like most part goers this was neither a quiet or orderly return from a night out.

I took my concerns to reception first thing on Saturday morning and as expected I was not charged for one night. Yes, that’s fair enough BUT that highly disturbed night had a knock-on effect… we were tired, we had to drive back to Newcastle for business meetings that afternoon, we were not at the top of our game either on the road or when we arrived back on Tyneside. A disturbed night’s sleep isn’t all about getting a refund it’s also about road safety and business performance. Driving back along countless miles of motorway when tired is NEVER a great plan.

The reception staff informed us that ‘it’s always like this at the weekend’ and that ‘there’s a warning about this on the web site’. Yes, it might be a weekend party venue and when we saw that TWO bouncers guarded the doors on Friday night all started to become very clear. As for the warning on the web site, there isn’t one, what it does say is:

Important info
Bedrooms are insulated to minimise possible noise disturbance in this major city centre location.
Car parking is available a short distance from this Premier Inn - for which an additional fee will be charged

We were further advised that should we return over a weekend we should ask to be located on the fourth floor, furthermore we were told that the staff team do make their best endeavours to keep revellers and business or older travellers apart… clearly this failed on this occasion. We do have to return to Liverpool on business and we generally liked this PI, it was faultless apart from the noise issues which are still haunting me today, as the older you get the longer it takes to recover from a disturbed night.

On the upside, the staff were cheery and clearly well trained. The premises are interesting quirky and clean. The location is excellent and the nearby parking brilliant.

In the interim, the Operations Manager, Ian Callaghan has responded to my feedback in a professional and thoroughly reassuring manner. So I won't write this PI off as a 'never again', I'll give them another chance because had only stayed on the Thursday night I would have given them top marks.

Room Tip: If you are staying over the weekend and you are not in Liverpool to party and stay up late, do make...

Dear Paul_Hollyer,

Thank you for your review. I was really pleased to read that you found the team and the hotel to have met your expectations.

In relation to the noise you experienced, I shall be conveying your feedback to the local businesses, as we have agreed noise limiters in place, and clearly something went wrong during your stay, for which I apologise.

Thank you again for your review, and we will see you again very soon.

This was our first visit to this Premier Inn but it will not be our last. The Hotel is in a former warehouse which has been carefully converted, but retains the feel of its past use. Our room had great views overlooking The Albert Dock and there was always something to watch and take an interest in. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful and the breakfast was excellent.
It is ideally placed for the whole of the dock area and the city centre is only a short walk away.
We can't wait to go back.

Dear Angela S,

Thank you for taking the time to review the Premier Inn Liverpool Albert Dock. It is always a pleasure to read comments such as yours, particularly with reference to the great team we have here.

The team and I are extremely lucky to work in a building which is fantastic looking on the inside and outside, and steeped in such history. I'm glad that you were able to appreciate the building for what it is.

Location wise, it is second to none, and really allows our guests to fully explore the city and it's culture without having to travel too far.

Thanks again for a fantastic review, and we look forward to welcoming you back in the very near future.

Regards

Ian Callaghan

Dear JulieandMark9-10-11,

Thank you very much for rating the hotel as highly as you did. There are many many great Premier Inn's, but it's awesome to read that you thought we are the best to date.

The lighting in the restaurant can be a little dim, particularly when the weather is dull. The exposed brickwork creates a naturally darker environment, but also generates a very atmosheric arena for some.

The views afforded to you are excellent, and maybe as and when you stay again, ask for a dock side room. The views on the other side of the hotel are equally excellent. Please ring the hotel in advance, to request such a view.

Thank you again for a great review,

Regards

This is my second visit to this Premier Inn, primarily to see exhibitions at the Liverpool Tate, which is about three minutes walk away. City centre is only a little further.
Despite obviously being busy, the staff are all very friendly and helpful. Standard, comfortable Premier Inn room, but (on the one side, anyway) with a great view out over the Albert Dock.
Good breakfast (I didn't eat in the restaurant for dinner, but memory of my last visit was that it was fine). Parking is available (at a reduced cost) in a multi-storey about 4-5 minutes walk.
All in all, a good stay.

Dear Bathsheba,

Thank you for taking the time to review the hotel. We are fantastically located and this enables our guests to fully explore what Albert Dock and indeed Liverpool has to offer.

The hotel is always busy, due in part to it's location and what opportunities this presents to tourists visiting this great city.

Parking at the multistorey is available with 25% discount. Guests are advised to ask for the discount voucher upon departure of the hotel.

Thank you for your review and hopefully we will see you again in the not too distant future.
