“Gorgeous hotel with huge beds!”

Hope Street Hotel

We've just had an overnight stay at the Hope Street Hotel and enjoyed every minute of it. The beds are enormous and very comfortable. The rooms are spotless and very stylish with a flat screen TV, crisp waffle bathrobes, good lighting and a great room service menu. The receptionist was very polite and helpful and even carried our bags to our room (my friend is 7 months pregnant so that helped!). She showed us how to work the shower/bath as it is a little bit complicated. There is bottled water in the room and an iron and ironing board was brought up to our room in less than a minute. I also ordered a glass of wine and it too arrived very quickly indeed. We didn't stay for breakfast as we needed to head off but the menu looked fantastic. Also, the Residents Lounge in the basement is very stylish and they do a great cocktail menu. The hotel offers a range of in-house beauty/spa treatments which isn't mentioned on their website. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it for couples and women travelling alone on business.

“Lovely Rooms”

We stayed here on New Years Eve 2006 after a night out in Liverpool City Centre. The rooms were perfect, beds extremley comfortable and everything was spotlessly clean. DVD's and music on offer but we didn't use them. Huge television!! rooms supplied with shampoos and body lotions, sewing kit - they've thought of everything! you can even have your morning paper delivered to your room!
We did not order room service but menu sounded delicious.
Staff were friendly and polite - can't find anything to fault this hotel on!

“Nice Location”

My wife and I stayed overnight in the Hope Street Hotel, and as per some of the other reviews we liked the location and cleanliness of the rooms.
The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was very clean.

The noise of the wooden floors, squeaking outside our door was almost unbearable, as the sound insulation through (or should I say below) the door was non-existant.

We also were disappointed by the lack of tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Although this was probably just to get you to use room service, or force you to go to the downstairs restaurant, so you can "enjoy" their high prices!

We turned the underfloor heating off on the thermostat and opened the windows. Although we would have probably enjoyed the warmth if it had been a cold winter's day.

Overall, the hotel was overpriced, but comfortable.

“Stylish but flawed”

The location is good - a quiet area of elegant Georgian houses with several good
restaurants close by, including the hotel's own London Carriage Works (LCW).

The rooms and public areas are stylish but, as usual for minimalist places,
not very comfortable for a longer stay. Very little storage space, only one chair
for 2 people and no drinks of any sort available in the room.

The main problem in our room was over-heating. It was warm (21-24C) outside
but there was a fiercely hot, large heated towel rail in the bathroom which could
not be switched off. The bathroom was like a sauna most of the time. Only one
window in the room could be opened and the fan provided was absolutely essential to
make conditions bearable at night.

The service was patchy - 3 mornings running they had no bread rolls (!) and
no corn flakes at breakfast. We made a booking at the LCW restaurant -
but they promptly lost the booking despite me seeing them write it down.
The staff seemed very young & a few had heavily accented English
(not Scouse!) which made communication difficult at times.

The LCW restaurant is expensive (£45 for 3 courses) and pretentious (two
unwanted 'appetisers' served to us in glasses) but the service was poor. They
took 75 minutes to deliver the first course and another 40 minutes for the
dessert. Now I don't want fast food, but this is unacceptable. Another odd feature
was that one evening they said the restaurant was "fully booked" but we never
saw even half the tables occupied. I can only assume this was due to staff shortages.

I will probably go back. But this standard of hotel needs a better quality of staff.

“Great hotel and service”

Hope Street Hotel

I stayed here on a Monday night having read the reviews on this site, and would recommend the hotel to anyone. As a woman travelling on my own for business, the staff could not have been more helpful and pleasant. The busy brasserie was also very nice - I offered to sit on a sofa to have supper so they could keep tables free, and the manager, who was charming, brought me a complimentary glass of wine to say "Thank You" and to make sure that I was comfortable.
In the morning, I requested an iron, and it arrived within a minute. Nice toiletries, bathrobe etc...
Only negative comments would be: 1. Hotel entrance is actually not on Hope Street, it would have been helpful to know 2. It's a good 10 minutes walk from Lime Street, not 5! 3. The bathroom floor needed re-grouting!
