Really pleasing hotel in Liverpool, European Capital of Culture 2008. Hope Street is a modern high quality hotel without being flashy, it has stylish state of the art decor.
Situated on the opposite side of the road from the Liverpool Philharminic Hall in the middle of Hope Street between the two famous cathedrals. The views from the city side of the hotel down to the Mersey are spectacular.
The staff are charming and helpful, the restaurant in the London Coach works is very good indeed. Worth another visit.
We visited St Helens to see Anthony Gormley's Field for the British Isles - 40,000 mesmerizing small clay figures gazing up at us; and his awesome figures gazing out to sea on Crosby beach. Tate Liverpool in the regenerated docks is showing a fascinating exhibition of Gustav Klimt's Vienna .
