“Staff are a credit to the hotel and restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2012

I booked to celebrate a special anniversary for my wife and I. I had heard excellent things about this hotel and was very keen to try it out, I wasn't disappointed! We arrived at the hotel quite early and just wanted to drop our bags as check in wasn't until 2 pm, however the receptionist couldn't have been more helpful. She took us to the car park so we could park securely and even let us check in early! We had been upgraded to a lovely room giving us a beautiful view of the city, river Mersey and cathedrals. Excellent! We had dinner in the restaurant and our waiter, silvan, was faultless. He was so attentive but not overly so which made our experience even more special. Such a credit to the restaurant there. We had an 'anniversary slate' at the end of our meal with a mince pie which was such a lovely gesture. Overall, the hotel, restaurant and all of the staff there could not have made our stay any more special. It was worth every penny we spent. Anybody thinking of visiting Liverpool should definitely put hope street top of their list!

Our stay was enjoyable. Attended my graduation ceremony (university of Liverpool) at the Philharmonic Hall which was just across the Hope street from the hotel, with the university about 5-7 minutes walk.
The city centre and shops were all within walking distance. Service was excellent. The staff were attentive and reliable.
Will recommend to our friends and will book again in future when we take our next trip to Liverppol.

Thoroughly enjoyable stay at this wonderfully restored hotel. Had a studio apartment which was big; the bed was comfortable and the bathroom superb. The staff were extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
Would stay again in a heartbeat.

We loved our stay at this hotel. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, and the accommodation was first class - spotless, cosy, well-equipped and quiet. It's location was ideal, with a great choice of restaurants close by. It was certainly one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in, and are already looking forward to our next visit.

Close to the Liverpool Philharmonic and the wonderfully ornate Philharmonic Dining Rooms. Located five minutes from Liverpool Ropewalks and Bold Street, ten minutes from Liverpool One and fifteen minutes from the Albert Docks.

The rooms are generous with all the expected amenities. The staff are very friendly. The hotel has numerous rooms away from Hope Street itself so you can avoid what traffic there is if that is a concern for you. The buffet breakfast looked and smelt nice but I didn't eat there myself.

We had a great stay. The decor is cool and restrained, the reception staff were warm and attentive, and the room very comfortable. The hotel is perfectly situated in one of the most interesting parts of this great city, and I would stay again in a heartbeat!

We stayed here at the weekend & our first impressions of the hotel were brilliant. Loved the bedroom - it was immaculate as was the bathroom. The bed was lovely & comfortable.

As there are wooden floors in the bedrooms it can get quite noisy - nothing worse than lying in bed trying to sleep & the room above walking around & moving stuff for at least half an hour. We thought there was a stampede of elephants going through the room it was so loud. The next night was not so bad, but we were awoken at 2am by the fire alarm going off instead.

Loved the extra touches like bottled water, bathrobes. The underfloor heating the the bathroom was also great.

If you stay on a B&B rate make sure you get them to explain how the breakfast menu works. You either have a cooked breakfast or continental or something of the a la carte. So if you want cereal & juice before your cooked breakfast they charge you more. The service was slow for breakfast both mornings. They forgot our breakfast the first morning & once we saw people who had come in about 15-20 after us being served their breakfast we reminded the waitress who checked on it. We were told that the slip had fallen down in the kitchen & they were cooking it straight away, but it was still another 15 minutes before it arrived. By then the hunger had gone off us. A gentleman came over and apologised about the delay & told us he would not be charging us for the breakfast. So when we went to check out we reminded the receptionist of this, but charged us the full rate that we were originally quoted. We eventually go a bit of a discount.

We have stayed in several hotels in liverpool & this is one of the nicer hotels. Might consider staying again if we were given a room on the top floor & breakfast service improves.
