The Royal Hotel, Waterloo, Liverpool, is a family run, very friendly hotel. We spent two nights there and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It is about 15/20 minutes outside the city centre but that meant great walks on the beach and quiet nights. We even had a view of the water from our room. The hotel is situated on a road lined with very pretty Regency houses. The staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating. The rooms are quite small but are cosy and comfortably furnished. The bathrooms now need some updating but all was clean. Excellent, freshly cooked breakfast with good sausages and bacon. We arrived very late at night but that was no problem at all to the staff. We will go back.

We stayed at the Royal Hotel as we were attending a function in Crosby, on the Sunday Morning we were woken by cleaners hammering on the door to be let in, we said we wouldnt be long but 15 mins later they were knocking again - we eventually checked out at 11.45 to be greeted at reception by 3 members of staff telling us off for checking out late - We apologised but felt very uncomfortable - we were going to stay for lunch but decided to get out of the hotel. We were not aware of the early check out time and we did not expect to be told off in such an unprofessional way.

We had a weekend stay recently at the Royal and can only repeat what the previous reviewer says. We too had the 4 poster, whirlpool bath (I preferred the brilliant Mira shower) & view of the Mersey. We had good weather and saw the "Waterloo Sunset". Next morning, we watched the ships coming into port through the early morning mist before having a first class English beakfast followed by a walk to the Marina and the Sea.

We had Sunday lunch in the Restaurant with our Son and my Brother and Sister in Law. It was a superb meal served by plenty of staff and at a very reasonable price. We sat for ages in the bar afterwards with tea, coffee and "non-soft" drinks. It was busy with people coming and going but without feeling crowded and with a terrific atmosphere. The staff were all exceptionally friendly but not "pushy". There is plenty of free on-site car parking.

We shall certainly stay at the Royal when we next visit Liverpool and would thoroughly recommend it.

I stayed at the Royal Hotel whilst attending a local function. The hotel is immaculate. The staff informed me that it had been recently refurbished and I can only say that it is to a very high standard. The views from the rooms overlooking the river mersey are fantastic and the rooms are really nice too. We stayed in a four poster bedrooms which had a spa bath and was lovely. The food is good and the bar is open to locals so had a great atmosphere. Staff are helpful and local and the hotel is great if you want to go into the city too. 9/10
