It looks fabulous but has kept all its character. Nice little cafe. Exhibits fascinating. Well worth a visit.

“Incredible make-over”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2013

This is an incredible library and a must see when in Liverpool. They have kept the historical facade and put an amazing modern facility inside. The family research on third floor has lots of information if doing family ancestry history; the staff are so helpful, but notice must be given if you require information from the archives. Suggest you get there at opening time, when staff have time to assist on a one on one basis.

“Very Modern”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2013

This is so far the best library I have seen in the UK. Everything is new, the architecture is great, clean, very bright, no need for an ID or membership card. Ipads are free to use. Cool library, a must see.

“Great to visit, wonderful building”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013 via mobile

Once you step through the door the old feeling of stuffiness of a library is dispelled. It's light and airy and very busy with people of all ages sat around reading or busying themselves at one of the many computer terminals. The architecture is wonderful with the glass ceiling staircase its centrepiece. The reading rooms are also not to be missed, especially the circular one. In a setting like this, you can't fail to be inspired (but also feel a little wistful when you remember the feeling of turning pages as you flick the button on your kindle). A visit to the rooftop terrace is worth a look, with views across the city.

“Newly Refurbished in May and Wow”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013

Very large open planned library can give you a pleasant experience of revision or just plain relaxation. Beware if you are going to the archives you must ring up before to ensure that what you require is available ad hoc or otherwise you will have to give that 24hrs notice to allow them up from the archives into the enclosed reading area. For the amount of persons visiting at times there just didn't seem to have enough staff to assist persons as soon as one sstaff member in each section was committed then you seemed to have a lot of standing around time. Not the staffs fault as they were just being helpful as possibly as you will find throughout Scouseland.
