“installations were bland at best, some good bits with the permanent collection”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2013

I did not see the exhibition on political protests and that, perhaps, was a mistake. I had a limited time and so went to the parts that were free, which comprised of some work that is permanent and a changing exhibition. Well firstly, I do like modern art and do not approach it with the disdain others would, but I did not find much captivating on the current exhibition. There were moments in the display that were interesting (on sexualization, for example) but then other moments, the flickering lights for West Ham? that left me cold. The permanent art collection is fine, some impressionists and some famous works but overall, I did not find this particularly interesting. I really wanted to like it but did not.

“A little of everything”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2013

The exhibit was small compared to other art museums. But their collection was varied. From artists such as Picasso and Miro. They had fantastics explanations on the artists and their connections to other art displays as well. Tate Liverpool is located at Albert Dock and is free and is worth as look

“Changing exhibitions.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2013

The Tate always has something of interest and since it is free is worth a visit. There are some gems in the present exhibitions. The obvious classics[Picasso etc] but also some beautiful unknowns [Duncan Grant].
Good cafe also.

“Varied collection”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2013

I went to this museum on an art trip, I found that the vast majority of the exhibits were not at all what I would describe as being art. However I think this museum boasts a large and varied collection or artwork and with the gift shop and cafe is a great day out. Plus it is in a perfect location, on Albert Dock in the centre of Liverpool.

“Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2013

Perhaps, reading some of the other reviews I am too easily pleased. But with works by giants such as Picasso, Matisse, Duchamp, Miro, Moore and Pollack to name but a few on display (for free!!) with excellent explanations of each piece I thought this was a fantastic way to spend a dull autumn afternoon in Liverpool. Yes some of the connections may be a little tenuous but who cares when you could spend an entire afternoon just studying the genius that is Picasso's "Girl in a Chemise". Definitely worth a visit!
