“Family weekend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2013

We stayed here 22nd - 24th February for a family get together. The rooms whilst not overly large were clean and comfortable, staff friendly and very helpful. We were on a B & B basis, food was reasonable and drinks average price for a hotel. It is situated 5 mins walk from Lime Street Station but is slightly off the main drag so was reasonably quiet at night. Would recommend this hotel for a 2 day stay. Liverpool is a vibrant city with plenty to occupy all ages.

Room Tip: Book early for a good deal

We stayed here as a group of 2 couples. When we checked in we 2 rooms on 2 different levels, there is no lift in this hotel so be aware of this. Our room was very small and the bathroom was tiny. We went to our friends room and for the same price they had a lot bigger room with a bath in their bathroom, ours did not. The staff however were friendly and chatty, i did notice that the bar and restaurant staff did seem to be under pressure a lot, maybe understaffed. The bar was nice, small but drinks were good. If i was to go to Liverpool again I would probably stay elsewhere bud would stay here if necessary

Stayed on a snowy, cold weekend this January.
I was so glad the room was always warm, the shower worked well and the bed was comfy.
I dont believe in nit picking unlike many seem to.
The only thing I didnt like was the frosted glass on a first floor window. Other rooms dont have these I noticed. The window opened so it would be ok in the summer maybe; can't understand why they did this in the 1st place.
Very reasonably priced; handy for centre; about 10 15 min walk.

Its the second time we've stayed at this hotel - we returned because it represents good value, the staff were helpful and friendly, it has secure onsite parking and its near the part of Liverpool we want to visit.
We combined this visit with a Valentines meal which consisted of 5 courses , all very well presented and of good quality.
The only negative - was while the room we had this time was OK - the bathroom is ready for an upgrade, i.e. lose sealant around the bath and generally tired looking.
Nonetheless we think this hotel offers great value for money and we will be back - once again 'top marks' to the excellent staff.

We chose this hotel as we wanted to be able to walk about easily in the city and around the university area as we were on an all our yesterdays visit, having studied there. The hotel is well place for this and is only 15 minutes from Lime street station, 10 minutes from the Anglican Cathedral and 3 minutes from The Catholic Cathedral, all of whic we wanted to visit again. We are loyalty card holders for Best Western and were able to get a free up grade to a more spacious room. This is we worth while at this hotel as the standard rooms are small and some have virtually no windows or have obscured glass. Our room was fine, large bed and TV, warm and comfortable, desk and easy chairs etc. Breakfast is good and hot, plenty available. The serving staff in the dining room are efficient an very hard working and pleasant. The reception staff managed to "forget" our ordered newspapers on both mornings, pity really as it was the only thing that detracted from the stay

Room Tip: Get that upgrade if at all possible!

My family and I have stayed a few times, it is quite reasonable compared to the rates you usually pay in Liverpool. The receptionists were always lovely and had free cupcakes available by the side. Mmmm.

We were shown to our rooms quickly, which were nice but a little small. Had an iPod dock, unusual but I forgot my iPod charger so it came in handy! nice size bathroom too.

The car park is tiny, but secure, £10 a day. Get there EARLY, as they fill fast and otherwise you'll be stuck with on street parking which is very expensive. The car park is small and is often full to the brim, the spaces do not mean easy access as it is often car behind car (If that makes sense?), my mum is not a confident driver but the staff were happy to move her car for her. Getting out requires permission from reception to tell the attendants, can be a hassle, but it does make sure it is super safe.

When we stayed there was a happy hour with lots of free drinks. Heaven!!

Breakfast was a buffet with the option of extras if you ask, i cannot express just how friendly and lovely the staff are. I am very fussy with my toast, but the lovely waitress got it just right every time!

A few steps up is the Metropolitan cathedral, and around the corner is the historic Philharmonic pub, as well as town being a 10 minute walk or so away.

The only reason I haven't given this an Excellent rating is because of the car parking, but it does not take away how great this hotel is. Quiet, serene and with some nice decorations in the bedrooms.

Room Tip: Don't be afraid to ask to change rooms if you find yours is too small;.

Booked a D,B&B deal, for £41 per person per night, which I think was very good value, and the hotel is definitely better than a Travelodge which you might get for a similar price. Room was like others have said, small and a wee bit tired, but clean and everything worked properly. Our room was right next to the door leading out to the car park ( room 5) and if you are thinking of booking you might prefer to request a room on an upper floor to avoid potential disturbance. (But it was fine after 11pm). Location is good if you are reasonably fit - its about 10 mins from town, up a hill, very near the utterly fabulous Metropolitan Cathedral. Selection at breakfast was good, and dinner portions were plentiful. We would stay here again.
