“Friendliest Staff I've Encountered”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2011

The first thing you notice about this hostel is its friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Staying here feels more like staying at a friend’s house then a hostel. The room I was in (a 14 bed dorm) was really spacious and everything was clean. There wifi worked well throughout the building. The showers and toilets were fine as were the laundry facilities which were £2 each for washing and drying. There are 2 kitchens, a small one in the reception area where you can help yourself to tea, coffee, cordial, toast and spreads all day, and a larger one downstairs where you can cook. It takes about 20 minutes to walk there from the city centre. I would probably recommend taking a taxi (about £4.50) or the bus (£1.70) if you have lots of luggage on arrival.
The only annoying things I found were that the beds don’t have individual lamps meaning we had our main light on until quite late each night and the lock keypad on the dorm door makes loud beeping sounds every time it’s locked or unlocked.
Overall I had a really good stay here, I met lots of great people, the staff are really nice and the beds are pretty comfortable. I would definitely stay here again.

Spent a few nights here and a big thanks to the staff who were friendly and knowledgable. The place has a decent kitchen area for breakfasts, two tv's (with sky) and free wi-fi which was all excellent albeit expected for the ambitious price of 20 plus quid per night. That being said, the hostel was incredibly loud, not helped by the deafening doorbell (you have to ring to get in) which makes it almost impossible to sleep in the room next to the doors. The doors also creak insanely loudly - a simple dose of WD40 would sort it, but who knows why they don't do it. Location wise, you need to walk about 20 minutes to get into town proper, so no complaints. Obviously in hostels you have to expect loudness and drunkenness from other guests, but they could at least try to block sound from the main hall getting into rooms. Credit again to the staff for swiftly cleaning up when a drunken guest mistook the corner of the room for the bathroom...unbelievable, but there's really nothing the hostel can do about that kind of behaviour, so not to be held against them. All in all the price was very ambitious for the state of the place (downstairs, particularly) but not a bad hostel at all.

Room Tip: Ask not to be put next to the main door

This is a really well organised and friendly hostel that will make your trip to Liverpool something special. I felt at home as soon as I arrived and Kevin Snr was so helpful and informative and lent me a Beatles book so I could do my own walking tour. Thurs evening Beatles tour was awesome too and really loved hearing some first hand stories over a pint. Thank you Kevin Snr & the Embassie, I loved my time with you although it was too short!
