We were in Liverpool celebrating a friends birthday and we arranged to meet at the Phil for a drink. I was put off suggesting eating there by reviews I had read. However, we didn't have much time to eat before hitting the town, so opted to eat there. The service was very good, we didn't have to wait long, the food was good and not expensive. I had carimelised red onion tart and had to give some of it away as there was so much I knew I wouldn't eat my main. Then I had a large chicken and mushroom pie with chips, peas and asparagus. The only complaint we had was they had run out of cod and only had haddock. We were early diners, at 5pm and by the time we left at about 6.15, the restaurant was full.
