“Great hotel for the price.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013

We booked The Liner because we wanted to stay in the city as close as possible to attractions and restaurants. We had seen The Liner on TripAdvisor, and were persuaded to stay thanks to the positive reviews, coupled with a great price we'd seen online. The Liner is right next to Lime Street Station, so it was perfect for us. It was clean, was new (my fiancé, who is from Liverpool says it used to be a post office or mail sorting facility) and had a great view of the city. The staff were friendly. We had to get wifi access twice due our first passwords expiring--the longest you can have them for is 2 days-- but other than that, it was great and we would stay there again.

We stayed there for three nights in February. Booked it because of excellent price including a free cooked breakfasr and parking. We were not dissappointed. Central location (next to the Lime street station), only 2min walk to the high street and shopping area, 15 min to the docks. I may not look pretty from outside but has excellent facilities inside. Definitely meets the requirements of 4 star hotel. Very clean, comfortable with friendly staff and superb breakfast. Will strongly reccomend for everyone. P.S. The deco suits the hotel name "The Liner" and you really feel like staing on the ship.

I stay here every February and it is a real home from home. And it gets better every time I come. The rooms are very comfortable and clean, the staff amongst the friendliest I have ever met, superb location (close to main train station but you never hear hear the trains) and a great breakfast.

The restaurant is very good too - I recommend their 'pre-theatre' menu, excellent value for superbly cooked food. The bar is also an easy place to be if you are on your own.

Well done The Liner and thank you for making me feel so welcome and at home.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms next to the lift - these can be noisier.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013

If you are looking for an inexpernsive, good-value hotel in the centre of Liverpool, you cannot improve on The Liner. It is located behind Lime Street station and the Empire Theatre, and has its own car park of about 200 spaces, which is free to residents. If that is full, there is the Lime Street covered car park a few yards away in Nelson Street.

Reception is clear and efficient; and you pay on exit. Our room on the 4th floor was clean and well-presented with blue and white decor, a small but well-tiled bathroom with face cloths and toiletries. The king-size bed was firm and comfortable, with immaculate sheets and duvet. TV worked well and plenty of room for storage. We heard no train noise in the night, and had a refreshing sleep. Congratulations to Housekeeping.

Breakfast was much better than expected - fried eggs/bacon/mushrooms/sausages/tomato; fresh coffee/fruit in bowls/toast with butter and marmalade. All help-yourself and plentiful.

We tried their restaurant; at around £9.00 I had BLT two-bun cibatta, with good chips and salad; satisfying and well-cooked. Their sandwiches at £4.50 are multi-layered; good value; I had beef with mustard..

At only £50.00 b&b for one room, no wonder the Liner was well patronised; it deserves to be. The car park is a major boon; reception will give you a token so you can exit any time.. We left the car there for a couple of hours and strolled to the Walker Art Gallery, which has one of the best Pre-Raphaelite paintings collection in the UK.

The taxi from the Liner to the Philharmonic Hall was only £3.00.

Will go there again (if we can get in). Recommended.

Room Tip: They all seem pretty good.

I haven't actually stayed here yet but wanted to post a review about customer service which I have found to be lacking. I booked a room directly on the website but, despite repeated emails and phone calls, have still not received a confirmation of my booking. The last person I spoke to promised to send a confirmation straight away and that was over 3 days ago!!!!
