My family stayed at the Adelphi for one night and throughly enjoyed the experience.

The hotel was clean, comfortable and quiet.

The food was excellent, very hot and well prepared with a good choice.

The rooms were big and spotless and the bedding excellent.

Go and see for yourself Ignore those who complain. You need to judge this for yourself

I stayed in this hotel on a Saturday night in July with an 8am start planned for the Sunday morning. After a few drinks in town, I went to bed at 11:45pm only to find myself unable to get to sleep because the neighbouring room had the TV on at full volume. Finally dropped off only to be woken again at 3am to the sound of [-] people in the corridors banging on the doors - presumably trying to get their comatose roommates to let them in to the room. The TV was still blaring in the next room. In the morning the same room had an entirely different set of sounds emerging - wasn't sure if my neighbour had paid for the company or just got lucky in a local nightclub.
Several times in the morning someone kept knocking on my door asking for a smoke.
If you don't intend to get any sleep then it's a great, central place to stay but why not save £80 and use the left luggage in the station and sleep on a park bench?
It's such a shame really. The Adelphi is a fantastic building with lots of grand features including an amazing ballroom.

I'm also wondering if Britannia Hotels have a policy problem in general. They don't seem to do a good job of keeping their hotels secure. A colleague of mine recently stayed in the Canary Wharf hotel and was woken by a drunk banking a door adjoining the next room. The hotel refused to move her to safer room.

as we were checking in we spotted the manager and her sidekick from the series about the adelphi and I knew from then we were in trouble! the room we were put in had glass missing from the door, replacing it was a piece of plastic-anyone could have broken in .the wardrobe wouldnt open, the blankets on the broken wooden bed were threadbare.we asked for a view towards the city and the view was the back of the hotel looking at a net collecting pidgeon droppings-beautiful! After complaining we were moved to the "Jacuzzi Suite".In another era this room would have been lovely but alas it was tired and needed refurbishing, the "jacuzzi was filthy, cracked, and the toilet had not been flushed for god knows how long and stunk of urine.we only stayed here because being from liverpool and now living out of town we thought it would be nice to stay in one of our well known hotels that us liverpudlians were very proud of as it had always been a landmark of liverpool. we had been to the barbara streisand concert in mancchester and when we came back we asked reception did they have a sandwich list, they told us they only did cheese sandwiches.we ended up going to the take away by the hotel and bringing back to our room chicken and chips after getting permission from the hotel!we never stayed for breakfast and never went near the shower,we waited until we got home. All we can say is get rid of the management and maybe the adelphi will get its good name back and make us liverpudlians proud of it once again.IN TIME FOR CAPITAL OF CULTURE 2008 PLEASE!!!!!

Honestly DO NOT stay at this hotel, i've only just come back from my stay for 2 days there and i felt compelled to write on trip advisor AND to the BBC with regards to this hotel. It does not boast 402 newly refurbished rooms quite the opposite in fact! I spoke to more than 20 people in my 2 days stay and not one was happy with the hotel. The rooms are disgusting the bathroom especially, hot water coming through both taps it took a good 10 mins for cold water to come through the cold tap it was scolding... don't expect a shower, expect a shower head attached to a grim and scum ridden bath, I kid you not. The smell in the rooms was putrid, the furniture worn, window sills not clean, carpet coming up from the floor...corridors to the rooms with hanging wires, miss matched carpet and wall paper topped of with marble walls...AND as for trying to have a good nights sleep forget it! We had to buy earplugs for our second night as we had the lift shaft making such a racket all night none of us could sleep! DO NOT STAY HERE!!!

We stayed here for a night out in Liverpool. Got a great deal on alpha rooms including dinner and breakfast, all for the price of a room in other hotels. As we went for the nightlife in the city it did not really matter about the hotel. It is in a superb location handy for shops, museums and bars and clubs. The hotel itself is shabby, but you can appreciate how beautiful it used to be.The room was basic and dated but clean and functional. there is secure parking albeit at a price but at least the car was safe overnight. We had cavery for dinner which was delicious it was hot and plentiful with lovely desserts. The restaurant was a bit lacking in finesse but as we just wanted food it was ok. There is an al a carte restaurant but we decided not bother as we only had a £12 allowance. The breakfast was also hot and plentiful and just the job on a delicate morning after.
We had a fab night out in Liverpool, go to concert square for continental feel and matthew st for a raucus time. Previously we have done the albert dock area and that is where all the beautiful people go, very expensive drinks though.
To sum up i would recommend this hotel for hen/stag nights those on a budget, short stay (would'nt want to stay for a week).
