Very unimpressed !!

We booked this hotel as a romantic anniversary break ! We could have booked into several cheaper hotels for about £68 per night but decided on here on a best flexible breakfast deal at £135 per night as it was deluxe, etc with fabulous views.. Well I cannot express how diappointed I was..this was my first time in Liverpool and we had phoned ahead to say that as our flight from Belfast was arriving early that we would like a bottle of sparkling wine in our room on our arrival..The hotel allowed us to check in at 12.00 which we were very happy with but unfortunately when we got to our room it was drab and over looked four lanes of busy and constant traffic which was somewhat noisey and unpleasant. There was only one bath robe. We had requested a room with a view and when we asked to be moved we were informed that there were no other rooms available. Needless to say that bottle of sparkling wine we asked for wasn't there either. In my opinion, this is not the place to go for a romantic break and there are other hotels nearby that would fit the bill. The hotel is clean and functional but thats it. I would advise any visitor to thoroughly check their bill as we were charged for additional items. Overall a very expensive and disappointing experience.

The hotel is located on the dock side and I had a lovely room overlooking the Mersey.

The food in the restaurant is above average and the staff were very helpful.

The hotel is a lovely peaceful haven in the heart of a bustling city.

..just returned from a business trip to Liverpool. The hotel is located centrally..just about a 10 minute walk from the city center and Albert Docks. The room was clean and quiet. What really made for a pleasant stay was the staff- from the doorman, to the front desk staff, and esp the waiters in the bar. We had dinner at the hotel diningroom and the food was surprizingly good (I usually expect very little from hotel dining rooms and my expectations are rarely exceded). The only negative was the woman who took our order who was surly but her attitude was NOT mirrored by the rest of the restaurant staff. They were uniformally helpful! The pool was convenient and there were no extra charges for guesdts. I hope to stay here again.

My boyfriend and I had a long weekend at this hotel at the beginning of December and we didn't want to leave! All the staff we encountered were so polite and friendly (not in a false or smarmy way either!) Our room was spotlessly clean and the bed was wonderfully comfortable. The breakfasts are yum too, so much choice - just what we expected as everything else was so good! We went down to the bar at different times of the day during the weekend - all times we were served straight away and 9 times out of 10 had table service. Again, the bar staff were very friendly even at their busiest times, when they were hosting several corporate Christmas parties. The hotel also has a wonderful swimming pool, gym and selection of beauty treatments. I had a massage which I recommend highly! I cannot say anything negative about our stay at the Crowne Plaza. The staff and management there should all be proud of themselves from the concierge to the cleaners! The location is also fantastic, close to the Albert Dock but not too close to hear the party goers going home at 3am and also close enough to walk to the city centre. I thought, from reading other reviews on here, that the hotel may be a bit too corporate and 'businessman-like' but I didn't get that impression atall. My boyfriend and I were up there to watch a match at Anfield and party and we didn't feel that we would have been better off somewhere else. I would say spend the little bit extra on staying at the Plaza and have a comfortable, relaxing, fun time in the fantastic city of Liverpool!! I can't wait to go back in a few years when the massive shopping mall is built!
