“Brilliant place if visiting Liverpool”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2013

We stayed here for one night for shopping, cocktails and a visit to the World Museum. The reception staff were very friendly and allowed us to check in early. The room was clean, very comfortable and had 2 double beds, though we only needed the one!
There was an issue with our tv having very poor reception, which sadly couldn't be fixed. An alternative room was offered, but we declined and decided it didn't matter; within 5 minutes a very kind member of bar staff had brought up 2 complimentary glasses of champagne as an apology and there was also a follow up phone call to apologise once again. Perfect service!
The breakfast, was superb, the scambled eggs were the best I have ever eaten outside of my own kitchen! It's all you can eat with a magnificent choice and though self service, table service is offered, so those who cannot manage would be catered to.
The location is prime, just a 10 minute walk to Liverpool One, a 15 minute walk to the World Museum and a 10minute walk to Hanover Street, which is home to The Buffet Star, one of the best Chinese buffets I have eaten at, which was receommended by the lovely man at the Concierge desk at the hotel.

Hotel is in good position overlooking river and short walk to Albert Dock and shopping centre. Reception staff very friendly and efficient. Room overlooked river but had horrid smell. Housekeeping staff arrived very promptly with air freshener which only masked the problem. Moved to another room also with good view of river and no smell (probably caused by shower curtain). Couldn't find hairdryer so had call hsekeeping again! It was in a drawer which wouldn't open. (And why oh why do 4 star hotels supply those stupid hairdryers with no diffusers and which stop when you take your thumb off the button?). Bathroom clean with good toiletries but water never rose above warm. Ate in restaurant which is poorly lit and poorly served (long wait for food and usually had to call waiter//waitress for any service at all.) However dinner was good. Breakfast excellent. Leisure facilities also excellent with very big pool for a hotel.
Not tempted to return until more attention given to bedrooms and improved service in dining room.

I am grateful for the time you have taken to comment on your recent stay with us here at the Crowne Plaza Liverpool City Centre.
Your kind words regarding our Reception staff are very much appreciated as we pride ourselves on the high standards we have set for customer service.
Please accept my sincere apologies for the inconvenience you have been caused due to the shortfall in standards in your bedroom. I am happy an alternative room was made available and will certainly discuss your comments with our Housekeeping team to ensure the correct procedures are in place to eliminate guest dissatisfaction going forward. I have noted your points in regards to the dinner service and discussed it with the Food and Beverage Department Manager. I can assure you this certainly is not indicative of our usually high standards.
I am pleased you were able to utilize our leisure facilities during your stay as this certainly can be a nice finish to a long day.
Once again, thank you for your time and I hope we have the opportunity to welcome you back to the hotel in the future.

Kind Regards
Stephen Roberts

My first review for an outstanding service. I recently stayed at the Crowne Plaza hotel for business.Got a cab from Lime street train station to the hotel excellent location only took 5-10 minutes. Check in was fine and was given a room with a view over the river, my room was well presented and most important very clean . Wanted to eat in the restaurant but was put off by its darkness. So decided to order from the room service menu. My call was answered quick, I was greeted with a young man named Elias. He took my order excellently and was very well mannered, he spoke with an excellent speaking voice. The food arrived quick it beat the estimate time given to me. It was delivered to me by Elias who was ever so polite and seemed very attentive. A touch that I really liked was he give me a call to see whether I required anything else and to see everything was fine. After my meal I visited the Bar which was a little tired looking, the service was ok here too. I enjoyed a glass of wine which was good quality for it being the house brand.Breakfast was a buffet with a lot of choice and a variety of food and drink to choose from. It was more then ample for my needs. Check out was very efficient and quick. A good hotel with excellent staff. Please pass my regards to Elias who wished me a wonderful stay, he is an excellent asset to the hotel. Look forward to visiting again in the future.

Generally I like to arrive in Liverpool with a fair bit of time in hand to get an early place in the queue to go on board the Isle of Man Ferry. We leave our cars and bikes and walk over to the Crowne Plaza for a drink or two plus a meal. It is the first day of our holiday so the hotel does well from our input. It is a good place for all of us to meet in good weather and bad....We sit in the entrance area near the bar and some of us go for food....We are welcomed and we have a good time catching up on the latest news. Some of us have not seen each other for 50 weeks so there is lots to talk about. We pay our bills and return to the queue of vehicles, ready to get signed in for the ferry. We meet some friends who stayed overnight at the hotel and they say it was great.

A very nice hotel with good beer and excellent food.

Just returned from a 3 night stay in Liverpool.Crowne Plaza is in nice location on the Mersey and on a nice day ideal for walking along to Albert Dock area. The Hotel is more of a business, functional hotel but is well run in this regard. The bedrooms facing the Mersey have nice views and are quiet. The bedroom furniture etc is in need of replacing. It is chipped and not in good condition for what you would exepct from a 4 star hotel. The rooms are cleaned by housekeeping but more attention to detail is needed as there is a lot of dust in the bedrooms.Breakfast was of a good selection but staff were not attentive and you would have to normally have to request coffee and tea more than once.Overall a good hotel which needs a bit more of personal touch to make leisure travellers feel more welcome.

This visit was not our first to this excellent hotel,we try to stay at the venue on a regular basis. The the bedrooms are all first class, the facilities overall lack for nothing, but most important are the staff who are at all times efficient with no request too much trouble. We are planning another visit very soon.

Room Tip: River view rooms are a must.

I chose the Crowne Plaza because of the great location opposite the Liver building and ferry terminal, and within walking distance of Albert Dock and the conference centre. The hotel is comfortable and quiet (avoiding bedrooms that face the road). The property is new built, low rise and a little boring. It lacks personality but staff are friendly and competition round here is fierce so everyone has to be on the top of their game. There are many good restaurants within walking distance, both by the river and a little way into the city, so many in fact that I did not eat at the hotel at all.

Room Tip: Pay extra and avoid the road.
