Good basic accommodation. Nice view over the docks. I had a few doubts about how noisey the hotel would be after reading some reviews. However on the bank holiday weekend with loads of hen/stag parties staying I can't say I was aware of any noise at night. Ideal location for exploring the city with everthing being within walking distance. One problem we had was with parking. There is very limited metered parking outside the hotel which at £10.50 for a 24 hour period doesn't come too cheap. There is a multistory car park about a five minute walk away which might not be too convenient if you are travelling with young children.

We are frequent visitors to Liverpool, and this hotel is now our preferred base.
Hotel rates are soaring, and will get still higher as the city's regeneration takes place. The only escape from the rates is to stay at the £35-a-night establishments.
We gave up on the Crowne Plaza when the level of service and courtesy stopped keeping pace with the prices, and switched to the Holiday Inn, which is now getting tatty. The Adelphi ought to be wonderful, but it is so scruffy and dirty, the staff are so rude and the food is so disgusting that they have to keep filling it with budget coach trips.
The Holiday Inn Express at the Albert Dock is just the job. Less than £60-a-night, and by general standards, the free continental breakfast is fresh and acceptable.
The rooms are a treat - exposed brick with, for the most part, excellent views of the riverside.
Parking (or to be exact, the cost of it) is, unfortunately, the big problem in Liverpool. The smarter hotels, such as the Crowne Plaza, have long been ripping off their guests with extra charges to use their own car park.
The HIE doesn't have a car park, so you have to use the adjacent public one, which costs £3 for overnight, then a lot for daylight hours. We feed it with £5 to stay until noon - which effectively adds £8 a night to the hotel rate.
The hotel though, is clean and well kept, and we've never been disappointed in the staff.
My one wish? Why can't we have a Hilton in Liverpool?

This Hotel is Fabulous and in the most amazing location. Situated on the old dock which has been refurbished it peaceful and relaxing. next door to the hotel is the Tate Gallery and Beatles Museum, any Beatles fan would love this hotel as the only problem was you could hear the Beatles music all day long from our room!
The staff in this hotel are very accomodating and helpful and friendly and the rooms are beautiful, comfortable and spotless.
I'd recommend this hotel to anyone!

Recently returned from 3 night stay here with 10 year old daughter. If you want to be terrorised by large parties of foulmouthed drunks roaming throughout the hotel all night long then this is the place for you. No evident security or answer to calls to reception. Unsafe and awful place to stay.
Night manager uncaring of complaints. Hotel generally don't care about customer safety or comfort.
Go sleep on a park bench instead - safer and cheaper!!!
Avoid at all costs!!!
