“Fab location to explore Liverpool”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012 via mobile

Located in the Albert dock you couldn't be nearer to the sights, shops and convention centre. In the redeveloped docks this is a great location. Lots of bars , restaurants nearby. Rooms are basic as you expect from a HI express but clean and roomy. Hair dryer, coffee making facilities and free wifi all handy. They have a good breakfast included. The convention centre is a stones throw away. No parking is probably a disadvantage to some and it looks pricey in the area but they do recommend some car parks.

Pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay at the hotel and your visit to Liverpool. We do recommend the car park at the Echo Arena as we have 25% discount vouchers for that car park and it's only a few minutes walk from the hotel. Thank you for taking the time to post your comments.

Great location. Rooms are noisy from outdoor sounds- waste removals, revellers and inside can hear people walking along the corridors due to the floor boards. Carpets are stained in the corridors level 2. Breakfast is ok a bit of a scrum as its self service. Bed is comfy.

I stayed here for three nights on a business trip. I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the room and bathroom, and had a great view across the water. No problems with noise and I was really impressed by the staff throughout the hotel, who couldn't have been more helpful. The only disappointment was the breakfast - there was a good selection but the hot breakfast (especially the egg) was pretty inedible. Not a massive issue on a business trip but I'd have been disappointed if I was hoping for a relaxed Sunday breakfast. Otherwise a great stay, though.

The location of this hotel is absolutely fantastic! Albert Docks, at the Mersey river - that is my favorite place in Liverpool. The room was very cozy, large and spacious, with bricks on the wall. Breakfast is not good, it's typical british hotel breakfast. There was a quite good free internet access. Thanks for that! :) People working in this hotel are very welcome and nice, maybe except the ladies at the front desk, that sometimes gave the impression of a little bit unsure of what they are doing there. Huge minus for cleanliness, my bathroom was dirty. On the floor there was a lot of hair from the previous guest. This is unacceptable and just disgusting. That is why I gave only 3 stars because it really disappointed me. Apart from that everything was ok and I would recommend this hotel. Maybe you will have more luck with a clean bathroom ;)

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments about the hotel, I am disappointed to learn that the cleanliness of your bathroom wasn't up to standard. Cleanliness is an area which usually score highly in and are often praised on cleanliness. I trust you mentioned this to the team when you noticed the issue and that they dealt with it to your statisfaction.

We enjoyed our two night stay at the HI Express Albert Dock and hope to return soon. It provides excellent service and has a perfect location. Check-in was quick and efficient, room generous size and comfortable with a larger than average shower. Breakfast was the same as at other HI Express hotels, good choice and a large dining area that was well maintained. Some reviewers have bemoaned lack of bacon. I like bacon as much as anyone, but can do without it for a day or two, and think about it for a moment: unless you pay a decent price - how are the poor pigs raised? Congrats to manement and staff, good job!
PS There are flags flying in the courtyard entrance - sad to see the Union Jack tattered and torn. Could it be replaced soon please?

Room Tip: Rooms above the restaurant mean smell of cooking in your room if you open the window.

We stayed here on the 13th & 14th of September 2012. We walked through the city centre from Lime street station to the Albert Dock and it took around 20-25 minutes. The hotel is in a great location for viewing the dock area, the Tate modern, Liverpool museum, Maritime museum (all free entry) and the Beatles story. The Echo Arena is only a 100 yards away. Our room was fantastic and overlooked the dock and the Liver buildings. The room was clean and tidy and had everything we needed. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice and the staff were on hand at all times to keep everything topped up. All the staff were pleasant and very helpful. I would definately stay here again. If i had to pick a fault i would say the towels had a slight 'biscuity' smell but this was not an issue and they did the job just fine.

Room Tip: Rooms on the 3rd floor look across the dock to the Liver building.

We stayed here for 3 nights in sept.2012. The location is perfect, surrounded by some great restaurants at the Albert Dock. Very close walking distance to liverpool ONE and the centre of the city, 5 mins on foot. Our room was clean and comfy, with a great view of the Albert Dock. Only downside was that there was quite a bit of noise in the corridors at night thanks to the party goers staggering in in their stilletos early in the morning screaming and laughing, it's not the hotels fault it's just a shame that some people are so clearly uneducated. If this is a popular hotel for the party people, given that the hotel is so huge, maybe they could accomodate these big groups all on the same floor or wing?
