“Lovely boutique hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2010

The Renshaw is a lovely boutique hotel. On arrival, we were allocated a room located at the back of the hotel, with a two small single beds pushed together, with a window that faced out onto the wall of the building next door. The room was tiny and didn't seem at all like a double room which we have booked. We made a requested for a proper double room and was moved to a room at the front of the building. This was a huge lovely room, with bay windows which overlooked a main street (renshaw street). Got slightly noisy due to the traffic on the main road, but it was nice looking out onto the main street and seeing traffic and people passing by. We ate at the restaurant once at lunch (sandwich/soup/ onion rings) which was ok, and once at dinner. They do unbelievable dinner deals however the quality of food was only so-so. I had the spaghetti and meatballs. Pasta too soft and not al dente and the whole dish was quite bland. My partner had the risotto which was better.

The cooked breakfast however was lovely.
Overall, staff were friendly and obliging.

The hotel is located about 10-15 mins into the main shopping area. Liverpool One was great for shopping. In the shopping area, take the excalator that takes you up to the cinema, and then walk towards the outside/terrace, this takes you out onto a huge green space/ park area which is absolutely amazing at night with the lights. We ate at a thai restaurant on the green, which is lovely. The food was above average but the decor is definitely one of the more upmarket thai restaurants we have ever been in. There is eve a fish tank in the toilets which separates the gents toilets from the ladies. A perfect night out.
The only downside is parking. There is a small area behind the Renshaw for parking, however you have to pay for this which is about £6-8 per day, and a space is not guaranteed. We parked at the hotel across town (the one that looks like a ship) for a fiver per day.

Myself and three friends stayed at the Renshaw for a weekend in early April. We booked over the internet and originally intended on booking a quadruple room, which we were told was sold out. We therefore booked two twin rooms, but on phoning the day before were told that two twin rooms were no longer available and we had been booked into a triple room and a double! We were not particularly happy with this but took the reduced rate on offer which equated to the rate for two twins. On arrival at the hotel we were then told that there was a quadruple available and that we would have to pay full rate for the triple and double we had booked the day before, but after a few minutes of debate and production of email confirmations etc we were checked in and sent on our way.

Apart from that hassle, we couldn’t fault our stay. There is no lift at this hotel, only a fairly steep staircase, so not recommended for the less manoeuvrable person. The hotel resides above the Renshaw Grill which appears to be a nice restaurant, we didn’t eat there during our stay but it was quiet so won’t distract your sleep. The rooms were of excellent quality for their purpose, well stocked with all of your usual amenities (safe, large wardrobe, desk and chair) and we were pleasantly surprised by the large flatscreen TV and iPod dock. The bathroom was excellent, free toiletries were provided and the bath (while on the small side) was nice, along with the shower.

The staff were friendly and happy to help with our queries. The hotel is located close to Liverpool Lime Street station and within walking distance of the LiverpoolOne shopping centre and the bars, but is far enough away to ensure that you don’t have to hear everyone head home from a night out – even if you did, the double glazing does its job. There is also a Tesco Express round the corner if you need to stock up on munchies.

Overall if you’re staying in Liverpool with friends I’d wholeheartedly recommend this hotel. We were told that there were a couple of other large groups staying there and I presume this is the hotel’s main function. We will definitely be staying there next time we travel to Liverpool but as mentioned at the beginning it’s best to book direct and double check your booking to avoid the hassle we had.

14 of us went there for a hen party. the rooms were spotless! There was 4 single beds in each rooms. Location is perfect for partying. Breakfast were great and served until 12! great if you want to lay in. Now having said that, i wouldnt recommand this hotel for a week end away with boyfriend. it is very busy with hen and stag so it gets quite noisy in the nite and early morning. also, walls are paper thin. you can hear conversation that are going on next room.thats were the ipod deck comes handy!!Staff were pleasant and friendly.

Stayed in the renshaw with my boyfriend in Nov 2009! The hotel was very close to the city centre which suited us for the nightlife and me for the shopping!! The staff were very firendly and helpful! It was also quite cheap, and very stylish including tv with freeviwe and ipod speakers!! Would highly reccommend this hotel and will be staying here on our next visit!!!

I went as a group of girls all aged 21 to stay here for the weekend.

On arrival we found it with no difficultly as it is very close to the station - loation wise its perfect as its so close to the nightlife and all the shopping. From Liverpool One Shopping Centre we found our way to the Beatles Museum which we all enjoyed and its safe to say that I didn't fully appreciate the Beatles until we had been to the museum. There are loads of cultural things to do in Liverpool and I was surprised at how clean and nice the area is.

The manager - Chris was really helpful and although we asked many questions he was very chatty and would enquire upon our return where we'd been and if we'd enjoyed it which I think is nice for a manager to have a rapport with customers. We also ate in the restaurant which is lovely and reasonabley priced. We booked a room and breakfast and the breakfast was superb.

The rooms are amazing - we all had a room of 4 with 4 single beds which we loved as we were all in the same room together. The beds are so comfy and although the hotel is situated in an ideal location we had no problem getting to sleep. We had a big plasma telly and a perfect bathroom. We did have some problems with our flush but we reported this to reception and they promptly dealt with it. Very stylish rooms and if you need to have a night in then its perfect with such a big telly and freeview channels!

You cannot fault this hotel!

Stayed here for Valentines weekend 2009 and this is one of the best hotels i have stayed in.

A few minutes walk from center of Liverpool but far enough to be away from the noise of town. Hotel and in particular the staff were brilliant. The restaurant was perfect as well.

Well done keep the work up
