“Dissapointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2013

I chose to go here for reasons of nostalgia - having some fond personal memories - but it was not really very good.

My own feeling is that it typifies what other nationalities say about British food. The cook's skill is limited to shredding lettuce, dicing tomato, putting a spoonful of prepackaged sauce in a small steel dish and deep frying something from the freezer. They can do better and the peppers and onions on the fajita I had were perfect. Sadly, that was the only thing that was - although I suspect they could have done better with a decent piece of beef for the fajitas because it was a ncely cooked piece of shoeleather.

For the rest of it - it seemed largely to be open the freezer and chuck something breaded into the fyer and serve with a bit of lettuce tomato and something to disguise the taste of oil.

Sorry - but give the guys in the kitchen a break and let them serve more like the peppers and onions and some real beef.

“Big portions!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2013

Ate at this waterside pub and really enjoyed the meal. Ordered a starter and a main course which were both tasty, but when the main course arrived we both regretted having a starter as the portions were more than generous! Nice location and good value

“Super Sunday Roast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013 via mobile

Having managed to grab a couple of spare tables outside on a warm sunny Sunday lunchtime we weren't sure what to expect.

We chose the roast dinners and they were great. We then wished we had sat down in more comfortable surroundings indoors, as it was a bit windy outside and the outside experience didn't do justice to the quality of the food.

The beef and pork was excellent, as was the veg, Yorkshire, and all other trimmings. Portion sizes were all more than adequate.

The service was efficient and friendly, plus a good choice of hand pulled ales.

We often avoid places that are in prime locations as we expect the more remote ones to be better value. With this place you can have both!

“Nice pub”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2013

Very pleasant pub on the corner of the waterfront. It has a traditional feel. We had a drink there but didn't actually have a meal there however we noticed that the pub seemed very popular with diners and the food looked really nice

“The meals are all good”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2013

We Have been a few times, but I had a reunion with the girls I worked with in July and yet again they never failed, the meal in itself was excellent ,considering how many of us had different options on the menu, and the portions are huge, and the vegetables and salad were all fresh produce.
We were served by a young man who was very polite, and there was no rush from them at all to finish our meals.top class service.
