“Piece of my history”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

Used to work as a paperboy many years ago at a shop which has long since gone. The steep as it says is steep, especially if you are pushing a buggy/wheelchair. Better to go to the top and walk down. There is so much to look at the, especially the sweet shop - full of old favourites, the Jews House, book shops, gift shops. Best of all look to the cobbles, I was always told these are the original ones which as a boy stretched up to the Newport Arch (one of the few Roman arches in Europe - worth a wlk to see it and follow the old Roman wall round back to the Cathedral. If you need any tips on where to go what to see message me I used to guide visitors round the city as a teenager and I return monthly to my home town.

“Not for the unfit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

The clue is in the name. It is very steep - avoid going downhill if wearing heels (or get someone to carry you!)

“Over 60's try walking down!!!!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2012

The award winning Street in the country is best tried going down and not up. But you can't say you have been to LINCOLN until you have tried the atmosphere and shopping on the "steep". As you venture down you pass all those poor folks who haven't read myTripadvisor advice before taking the journey, and you can pity them.

“Worth a breathless walk!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2012

I lived in Lincoln as a child and went to school here. I remember walking up and down Steep Hill over thrirty years ago! It's lovely to see so many lively and fun businesses now as you walk up the hill. At the top you reach the cathedral on one side and the castle on the other. The restaurants and cafes are all good too.
