“Archaeologists Dream -”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2013

We had a lovely time last weekend. The room was first class, well set out, clean and the hot chocolate was to die for! With Marcus being really keen on archaeology he enjoyed seeing the Roman Ruins, Castle and Cathedral - your directions were very good. Breakfast was excellent - kept us going all the way home - (3 hrs and 3 trains). We will book at the Brayford again if we come back to Lincoln.

My friend and I stayed for one night in this beautiful B&B. Brayford GH was light, bright, spotless and beautifully decorated. We were warmly greeted by Marie, who showed us to our en suite twin room. Room number 4, had everything we needed, tea, coffee etc. The decor was unfussy and the beds were incredibly comfortable, with extra blankets in case they were required (they were not).

The next morning we came downstairs to be met by Clint, who was just like Marie, very friendly and chatty and made us feel welcome and relaxed. There was a choice of fruit juices and cereals, however we opted for a full English breakfast, which was absolutely perfect and used good quality ingredients.

Clint & Marie, were wonderful hosts and the Brayford is a credit to them. We'll definitely return.

We've just returned from our third visit to Brayford Guest House. This time we stayed in the main house. The same high standards prevail throughout the property as does the quality, service and excellent hospitality from Marie & Clint.

This guesthouse is well located 10 mins walk from the railway station / town centre and 5 mins from the waterfront with Odeon cinema and many nice places to eat. The area is residential with many other B&Bs nearby. Saintsbury's, a fish & chips and pizza place couple of steps away.

First impression was very good: clearly signposted, well-maintained entrance and pretty stained glass front door. Very clean and nicely decorated interior with personalised touches such as sweets at the entrance and (non-fresh, yet good looking) flowers throughout. It is clear that the owners care about their home and the quality of standard they offer to guests. Prices are very reasonable at £35/night for a single and £55/night for a double, incl. breakfast. The bed in my room (no. 2) was comfortable, there was a small flat screen TV, desk, water cooker with tea/coffee/hot choc, hair-dryer, small wardrobe with hangers, shower, toilet and sink. Whilst small, it was perfectly fine for a single room. In contrast to many B&Bs in London, heating works very well here and the windows seemed to be well isolated (hardly any noise from outside). In the room was a breakfast menu and you can choose from a full English breakfast, vegetarian option, omelettes or simply some cereals, toasts, yogurts, fruits etc. Everything was fresh and the breakfast room is spacious (for the number of rooms), light and airy. I met the host, Clint, who is a friendly and pleasant person.

I very much recommend The Brayford; it is the best guesthouse in England that I have stayed in so far (and I have stayed in many, working for a tour operator!). If I were to be very picky, the only criticism I could have is that the shower door could do with a full cleaning from the inside and there was still some dust on top of the mirrors, paintings etc. in the room when swiping with my finger. Also, it is not advertised if wifi is available (I picked up a connection, but it needed a password), so I think an extra paper in the room (next to the breakfast menu) maybe with some restaurant recommendations or which sites not to miss in Lincoln would be a nice add-on, although downstairs a free map and various brochures are available as well.

Clint and Marie were very friendly from booking to departure. They obviously enjoy their work! The organisation was impeccable.

The rooms were modern, spotlessly clean and had everything you could possibly ask for. Breakfast was cooked to order and was perfectly delicious.

Just a short walk from the marina and university, the guest house is well located. My daughter is starting at Lincoln University in September and this will be the first of many visits.

This has got to be the cleanest hotel we have ever stayed in. We booked at short notice as a result of a family tradegy, the owners were brilliant and very accomodating. We booked 3 rooms for six. We arrived mid afternoon to be offered all 3 room keys. We were shown each room and shown how to operate various things the rooms. The owners husband said he would have the rooms heated for our later return and they were, even when our radiator wasn't working he put in an electric replacement. The rooms were spotless, comfortable, the double rooms available were family rooms which if we had had children would have been great. The breakfast was large and filling, nothing was to little to get for us and lots of hot breakfast options to choose from. On street parking, but the area is fairly safe. Nice location near to Brayford Pool, and only a short walk away to the town centre. Would highly recommend.

A lovely guesthouse, well-located for the Marina and the town centre. We were made very welcome on arrival, more like friends than customers.
Room was well-equipped and very comfortable with en suite facilities. Fabulous value for money. Breakfast was cooked to order (perfectly), delicious and served in a newly refurbished room, Our son who was staying overnight with his sister in Uni accomodation was even invited back for breakfast.
Its the little touches that make you want to return, which i am sure we will.
