“Mixed bag”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013 via mobile

Stayed saturday night and found a vibrant business which met some of our needs but....
A very clean room recently decorated with a large very clean bathroom but a shower over bath meant mixer taps which where hard to control water potentially red hot..I just cut my shower short.
The bed was comfortable and we slept well until 7am when the catheral bells start on the hour then every hour this a the sounds of other guest and room maids really ensures you wont miss breakfast.
The bar in the evening was not the enviroment id hoped for 2 large flat screens showing football with the sound up dominating both bar areas leaving nowhere for a quiet drink during your stay.
Door control turner up as we where leaving to attend a dinner in another restaurant (the reason for our trip to lincoln)
Staff were friendly neat and helpful
If I was on business my requirements would have been better met with no change.
As it was I was happy enough with the tower hotel but no wow
I didnt eat there as I cant get do breakfast by 10 on a sunday
I understand that the hotel has a good reputation for food the menus displayed certainly looked tempting.

Nice boutique type hotel with a lovely bar area inside and out at the back.
Good breakfast in a pleasant enviroment.
There was also a good size bathroom with large bath towels.
Nice room with attractive furnishings though some of them were beginning to look a bit shabby.
Good location at the top of the hill with lots of restaurants and pubs close by.

Stayed on a cold November night and were warmed to the core by the tower hotel. Well appointed modern rooms, lively bar, excellent staff and a hearty breakfast the tower hotel ticks all the right boxes. There is ample parking availbale directly opposite the hotel in the municiple car park and the hotel refund half the cost. If you intend to visit Lincoln try the Tower Hotel.

As a lover of afternoon tea this was in my top 3. There were lots of sandwhiches which is unusual but very much appreciated as they can often be to many sugary things. The sandwhiches were tasty but perhaps on a day to older bread then should be. Egg mayo, honey roast ham and smoked salmon and cream cheese. 2 x mini scones including plain and fruit (more cream would have not gone a miss) and some super moist mini bananna bread and apple and almond cake. Tea also tasted superb. For £9.00 per person very good value and lovely christmassy setting.

I wasn't too impressed when i approached the door. It smelt and sounded like a pub and the reception wasn't obviously the reception. The staff were friendly and i was given my key - a proper old fashioned key - nice.

As i went up the stair - 2 flights but i was offered help with my bag - my attitude began to change. It was clean and fresh. The room was small but so comfortable. The en suite was bath with shower. The most striking thing was the cleanliness: not a filigree of mildew or even a water mark anywhere. It may have been newly refurbished but didn't smell or appear in any way to be.

The next test was the bed - would i get a good night's sleep? Yes i did. The bed was lovely and comfortable, not too soft, not too hard but just right. With being two flights up it was also quiet - no pub sounds reached me at all.

Down to breakfast and the restaurant was beautifully laid out. The test of a good cook - how do they poach my eggs - perfectly!

Four things that matter most to me when i have to go away overnight: friendly staff, cleanliness of room, good sleep and good breakfast and they scored on all four.

Only 4 out of five: a wee bit more professional looking reception area would help, the telly kept flicking back to DVD mode which was a nuisance but i have my kindle, oh and i do like a wee biscuit with my tea at night.

Well done The Tower - oh and it's in a lovely part of Lincoln within walking distance of the cathedral and lovely pubs, restaurants, cobble streets with "non chain" wee shops.

I've stayed twice at the Tower Hotel in the lovely Cathedral Quarter of Lincoln. The hotel is ideally situated for not just the cathedral itself, but the restaurants, cafes, bars and more that fill the cobbled streets around and about.
If you are arriving in Lincoln on public transport, be warned that it is an arduous ascent up to the hotel, Steep Hill is a very aptly named street! It's worth it though to get to the Tower Hotel.
My room was at the back of the hotel, Number 10, overlooking quiet rooftops and leafy gardens. There are both a busy restaurant and bar downstairs but I've not been troubled with noise at all during my stays. The only quibble with my room this time around was that my single bed was very narrow, it felt a bit like a hospital bed. I was almost expecting nurse to come round with my medication when I woke up the next morning. However I did get a large double to myself on my previous visit.
The staff are smiling and efficient, but very reserved. The room was very clean and everything worked well in the bathroom.
The highlight of my stay was the Struggler's Inn, a real ale pub with friendly staff and regulars about one minute's staggering distance of the hotel.
A clean, well-run hotel in a lovely part of the city of Lincoln.

My husband and i stayed for one night on Saturday night on a short visit to Lincoln. We received a warm welcome. The room was beautifully done and very tastefully decorated. It was also nice that they had the heating on, not too high, so the room was nice and warm when we went in, as it was freezing cold outside. The bed was soooo comfortable, enjoyed a good night sleep after a really long day.
Breakfast was good, served again by pleasant staff. (and thanks for the nice table).
We will most certainly return and recommend to friends and family.
