Been to the Parrot Zoo several times over the years and every time I go, it improves more and more. Clearly it's had to expand rapidly to deal with the enormous number of birds that are sadly given up by their owners, for a whole range of reasons, but often because they crave to behave like a bird, rather than a surrogate child for their human keepers. The birds clearly enjoy coming to live amongst their own kind but are also inquisitive and keen to engage with human visitors. I could spend hours in the walk-through aviary, though beware of wearing jewellery, visible zip tags, buttons or toggles - they are the best parrot toy ever, apparently, so don't expect to take them all away with you when you finally leave! I understand that some people have said they would like the place to look tidier, but that is life with parrots. No sooner do you put in new perches and browse to chew than they destroy it! It's fantastic to see the birds that have not enjoyed life as a pet and have often plucked out their feathers adapting to a new life. It's a wonderful place to visit and a great place to see birds behaving like birds - mischievous, charming and at liberty to be as noisy as they choose!
