After 4 years of travelling around the East Midlands in search of the perfect curry we voted for our 10 favourite curry houses and would visit each of those in 2013. We first visited Little India in 2009, although on our return we were left a little disappointed.
Some of the meals were very tasty, but there was nothing that jumped out and made you think I wouldn't be able to get that in a random curry house in say Oakham or Corby.
Little India are right to be flattered about being on the BOB10, but their chances of winning the inaugural BOBCHOTY(Best of the Best, Curry House of the Year) award may be limited.
The lamb delight which was supposed to be one of the signature dishes had a large amount of dried onions on the tops, which reminded me of bacon bits that you get from a salad cart. I can't see these appealing to many curry fans.
To win BOBCHOTY, a curry house has to go that extra mile, make you feel welcome, deliver you the sort of food that you can't get anywhere else, such as winners of past CHOTY awards (Grand Durbar 2009, Bindi 2010, The Banyan Tree 2011 and Paddy's Marten Inn 2012).
Overall though you'll have a good meal at the Little India, but with the huge amount of choice in the East Midlands and Leicester in particular there are better venues about.
