I cannot believe how much this restaurant has gone down hill.
We used to visit the Terra Cotta twice a week, back then it was very busy, moreover the food was hot and delicious, with plenty of choice.
It was by far the best buffet style Chinese Restaurant in Leicester. Unfortunately, I have over the past year seen the once great Terra Cotta become a below average place to eat. The food is generally 'barely warm'! The dishes are not replenished, just the dregs were left in the serving trays for the duration of our visit. After asking for some hot chips, the cold ones were taken away, Re-fried then brought back out, hence oozing with fat and most unappealing!
The once excellent Tepenyaki Grill also had a very poor selection of raw meats and seafood available to be cooked by the grill chef. The 'should be blue/grey' raw prawns were warm and pink, furthermore the sirloin slices (or what was left of them') were dark brown and dried up; most unappetising!
The minced pork in the Yuk Sung was non existent and the desserts looked like they had been trodden on. We spoke to the restaurant manager about the shortcomings, he just smiled and said the restaurant was busy.
For £13.80 the restaurant was very poor value for money considering the limited choice and the poor quality of the dishes.
There are many other buffet style Chinese Restaurants in Leicester, my advice would be to give them a try. The Terra Cotta just isn't what it used to be!
