Phoenix Square is situated in the growing cultural quarter of Leicester on the edge of the city. The council have invested in restoring old buildings, street lighting and are improving parking facilities. I disagree with the previous reviewer about parking. On street parking is cheap for three hours during the day and free after 6pm. I frequently park around here when in the city and have never had a problem or indeed heard of anyone else doing so. There is a NCP car park nearby which offers a discount to Phoenix users and the cinema will shortly open its own car park. I hope that sets minds at rest about car safety! The area also has a theatre, art galleries, artists studios, restaurants and some nice bars. Right on the edge of the Cultural Quarter is a great old real ale pub, the Ale Wagon, which has not sold out to fruit machines, plastic furniture, lad culture or loud music (although they play very good music at an acceptable decibel level!)
Phoenix Square has a super cafe and its a great place to meet for lunch/ coffee. The food is very reasonably priced and they also do film and meal deals which are worth as look. It's so nice to go and see a film as part of an appreciative and knowledgable audience and you can take your wine in with you! Thoroughly recommended.
