“Informative and interesting visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2014

There is lots to see and do here and also plenty for children to see. An extremely enjoyable day out.
If you want somewhere to take children to keep them busy, this is the place. They have a good collection of old toys and fashions and it's very interesting to see how people used to live many years ago.

“Informative and great fun!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2014

We really enjoyed our visit with our nearly 3 year old! Informative section about the history on Leicester and fun mock shops. The Easter bunny hunt in the garden was the highlight as the garden was so quiet and well looked after. Worth a visit for kids or adults. We did not go upstairs so could not comment on that.

“Day out with kids”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2014

A very enjoyable afternoon at Newarke House with my 9 year old who loves to sit at home on his PS3 on a weekend. He enjoyed dressing up as a soldier and was mesmerized by the number of medals on display. Take your kids even if they oppose to it, once there I am sure they would enjoy it and its free!!

“Amazing gem of a museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2014

I've been visiting Leicester for over 20 years and can't believe I've only just visited this museum, it's not as well publicised as the New Walk gallery and museum so have missed out on it over the year.

The staff gave a nice welcome when we arrived at the museum, it's well laid out with the history of Leicester in front of you as you make your way around it, from its manufacturing history, along an old Leicester street with pub, grocers and general store with a whole floor laid out documenting the history of the Leicestershire regiment.

The staff were great with one of the guys appearing with a reproduction of Daniel Lambert's massive trousers which really brought the story of the UK's fattest man alive.

A great morning in what is a tardis of a museum was completed with a sit in the reproduction of an old cinema with the film showing the history of this brilliant city.

Well done Newark Houses Museum 10/10
