I love Blackpool and usually stay in the quite North Shore area but wanted something central to all the attractions this time so decided to stay at the Fern Villa.
It was really easy to find (£5 taxi ride from Blackpool North railway station) and right in the centre of town but away from the noise. Just 2 minutes away is a little high street with banks, cafes, newsagents, minimarkets and takeaways and 2 minutes in the other direction is Blackpool town centre.
My room had the most fantastic view of the tower which was magical as the illuminations were on. I have really high standards when I stay in holiday accommodation but no problems here at all. I was given a really comfortable double bed with a wardrobe, drawers and en-suite bathroom. The room was nice with a television and coffee making facilities. The radio alarm clock was a lovely touch seeing as I could listen to the radio whenever I wanted. The room was very clean which is probably the most important thing I look for.
The hotel is small (about 7 bedrooms I think) with it's own car parking area. It has a real homely atmosphere and even though I was a solo traveller, which can be a little intimidating at times, the other guests were so friendly. I'm not a breakfast person but the one morning I did have it, it was delicious....cereal/juice followed by a full english with toast and tea/coffee.
The owners, Barbara and her husband were so nice, always asking how my day was and offering recommendations on places to go. There were other staff too who were all so nice and helpful.
