Stayed at the New Balmoral for 1 night and I was glad it was not longer. I went with a group of 9 friends to Blackpool for a 21st birthday and stayed over so we could enjoy the clubs. The time there got off to a bad start, as it is located in a difficult position and near a 1 way system, we later had to resort to Sat Nav to find our way there from the Promenade. We then parked in a bay to find it by foot and asked locals and a shop assistant for directions and my friend happened to find it by chance. We returned to a warden placing a ticket on the car. We then had to locate a car park, which was at the opposite end of a long road to the place and cost £14 for 24 hour parking, with no change machine available. I had travelled with 2 lads and was due to meet 7 others there. We were greeted by a woman in an apron and a black dog, who as the woman confessed had a problem that its fur, but both were very friendly. We ventured upstairs to locate our room, which was quite big with 2 doubles and a single in it. and was in the loft with wood panelling on the ceiling and I believe the windows did not open and the heating was on high. We had a nice view of the tower though. Our friends joined us and 5 were in one room, which included bunk beds, one of which was a double and 2 single beds. A friend and her boyfriend had a very small double bedroom that they had to lie on the sides to fit in it together. The TV required 50p to work, which we did not try. The cupboard door was partly off its hinges. There were drinks making facilities, but the cups had 'hairs' in them. Our friends had a weird electrical device hanging from the wall and when they returned, the key did not work and had to have it kicked open. The door also had little [--] written on it and was just wood. Apparently a group of guests had caused £1000 worth of damage previously. The shower worked, but had a charge of 10 pence and smelt of eggs and had the toilet with a 'nice' furry green seat cover in the same room and was small. I had to share room 8 with the 2 lads although they said we did not tell them it was men and women group. The pillows on my single bed were soiled inside the case, there was a hole in the duvet cover and there was no head board, had to borrow a pillow off another bed. Headboards on other double beds were ripped. Friend was too scared by the creaking of the ladder on the bunk bed to climb it and double at the bottom was quite hard. I did not attempt breakfast, but apparently there were hairs on the bacon. Check was 11am, but we stayed a little later and the owner was ok and let us keep our bags there whilst we went to the pleasure beach. She was also helpful when we lost one of our friends. There are no card payment facilities and as from what I saw there is only a stepped entrance and no downstairs for disabled guests. Would not stay there again.
