I recently searched a Hotels in Blackpool site and came across the Kensington, it reminded me of my last booking in March this year ... Having stayed there on numerous occasions for large parties the function room was the main reason for our stay, everything else was adequate for our needs. However, with regret, I had to cancel my booking, giving reasonable notice, Honey & Mike (the managers) refused any form of refund. What happened to customer relations?

Firstly, I would like to respectfully correct the reviewer on the date of the cancelled booking in question, as the cancellation was actually in May and not March.

Regarding your non-refund, it clearly states on the back of our receipts, and in other forms of our literature, that customers who cancel are not entitled to a full refund in lieu of business that has been turned away.

We would also like to respectfully remind the reviewer that the last time they visited this hotel was three years ago, so we feel that critiquing the rooms and service does not give a fair reflection of the facts on the date that the review was written.

Nevertheless, we thank you for your comments.

Recently had the misfortune to book into this hotel for 2 nights, unfortunetly had to cancel due to unforseen circumstances. I paid upfront for a twin room £130 gave approximatley 4 weeks notice of cancellation and was only reimburssed £24. When queried I was told I had been charged for meals & service." In my opinion this stinks" or the same might happen to you. Just make sure you can take up the booking or you loose out.

I would like to respectfully remind the reviewer that as it states on our literature, as well as on the back of the receipt which they would have received, we are not liable to give a refund in the event of a cancellation, this is in lieu of business that we have turned away. This is a policy that is prevalent in most hotels, and if you take out holiday insurance it will cover this.

This being said, as a gesture of goodwill, we do give a part refund in the event of a cancellation. We refund the cost of the meals and service, this is what you were refunded for, and not (as you mentioned in this review) what you were charged for.

Dont book direct with owners

If you use this hotel never book direct and if you cancel you will only get a small very small part back even if you cancel 4 weeks in advance.....nice hotel food could be better owners need replacing...should take a course in customer management....

If you had taken out holiday insurance as most do, this would have covered any losses.

We would also like to clear up comments made by this reviewer regarding the owners of this hotel. The booking in question was taken by a relief manager (who we have now parted company with after finding him to be fraudulent and a thief) and not the owners. The reviewer has never met nor spoken to either of the owners, so we believe the comments made at the end of this review are unnecessarily disrespectful and completely uncalled for.

Very Welcoming Hotel

We just stayed afew days, but we were made so very welcome by our hosts for our stay Paul + Tony and the rest of the staff. Our room was very clean airy and comfortable, the food was really tasty, hot and of plenty. Paul knows what guests need and goes out of his way to provide it.

We booked this hotel as a last minute valentine week end ....and we couldnot have wished for better .The service and care we recieved was second to none ...the hotel manager ..Paul welcomed us in on Saturday morning ...and nothing was too much trouble.All the staff are friendly ..our room was spot less ...and everything in it was comfortable.The food was excellent...and being valentines w end ..it was trimmed up for the occasion and a special meal and cabaret completed the night .We will definitely go back again ...and I have already recommended it to all my family and friends.
