Just returned from a 2 night break at the Doric Hotel. It does what it says on the tin. If u want friendly, helpful staff, plentyful, delicious food, warm comfortable bedrooms, quiet location (with tram stop conveniently nearby) at a very competive price, the the Doric is for you! The hotel is very nicely decorated, clean and welcoming. The clientele are mostly of an age to appreciate comfort over extrovert, and nevertheless I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a base to explore the Fylde coast and get value for money. Well done to the staff of this well managed hotel

Every year since birth (19) i have visited the Doric at least twice a year, and i am infact due to check in there this weekend. with 80% of the large family rooms and twin rooms being refurbished, the enviroment of the hotel is now very modern. Every year i have an ecellent time with there being many things to do, the location is situated about a 10 minnute drive into Blackpool and about the same distance into Cleveleys where there are some extremley good shops and arcades for kids! The restuarant at the doric is ran by James who knows his staff very well and also cares about attention for detail. The very few times that there hasnt been a dish on the menu that a member of my family likes then he has gone out of his way and prepared something, like many of other familys that he does this for.

All in all its a very Friendly place to be and your always gaurenteed a good time and i hope that you enjoy the welcoming feel of the doric if you are after a weekend away.

Room Tip: There are quite a few exceutive rooms situated on the first and second floors. with me and my family...

A fantastic time again, had a 3 night mini break, food fantastic, service second to none, staff as always friendly and helpful, nothing ever too much trouble. Looks great since bar reception and sitting area refurb, looks fresh and clean. Great to see everyone again. Spent time shopping and chilling, tram stop handy across road so didnt get too cold when going out. Played bingo on evening even won a little bit of spending money. Didn't want to come. Home had such a good time. As usual James needs a mention his customer service skills goes beyond you being a customer to becoming like a friend makes everyone feel valued and special, George again he feels like a member of my family, he always has a happy smiling face, and shows genuine interest in my family, reception never gets stressed no matter how much confusion we cause with our bookings:-) a special mention to the cleaner who cleans the bar area, you always recognise us and ask how we are. Waiting staff were fantastic mark do you ever stop? Dawn wish I had a constant smile like yours you guys work so hard and I never here you complain. Can't wait to come again, first class hotel

Room Tip: Side view or sea view very nice rooms

The staff throughout the hotel were excellent. The organisation, service and food in the restaurant was excellent. I would have no hesitation in recommending all these areas of the hotel.

However I have to point out that our double room on the 4th floor was very very small and we felt cramped and uncomfortable.

Also, the carpet in the corridor on exiting the lift on the 4th floor would need replaced as it did not smell very good.

Also people smoking outside the front of the hotel you have to walk through the smoke that's if they would move for you.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the front of the hotel

We have just returned from a weekend stay at the Doric hotel as a party of 12, ranging from 6yr to 67yrs. I can honestly say that we were the youngest party there! As we booked this hotel on the basis of the reviews, I wanted to make sure that other families don't make the same mistake!
I booked this hotel to celebrate my 40th Birthday and as the reviews were so good, I thought we were onto a winner. In the past we have stayed at The Claremont, The Cliff's and St Ives (Lytham) hotels, unfortunately we didn't choose any of those this time!
Between us we had 4 rooms, all were quite dated but adequate. Only one of us managed to have a hot shower during our stay as we discovered you needed to be in the shower before 5pm otherwise the water was cold!
We met up in the bar on the first evening to find it was happy hour, which was quite pleasant but the lager tasted awful and the smell in the bar lounge was absolutely rank! It was so bad that we had to move into the front lounge. The smell didn't stop there either, the whole of the left hand side of the hotel stunk, including the restaurant, and floor 1 was particularly unpleasant - we did wonder if there was a decomposing body somewhere! We decided to try and ignore the smell and sent the kids off to find the games room. They returned a few minutes later as it was actually a small room with a few old fashioned games and a ripped pool table - they didn't return for the duration of our stay.
When we arrived for our evening meal at 7pm (it is only served until 7.30pm), we were ushered into the Cumberland room, which was actually quite pleasant and we had the place to ourselves. Our joy was however shortlived, as we were soon joined by the children's entertainer, a disco and a bunch of kids. Now don't get me wrong, we loved the fact that there was children's entertainment but we didn't particularly want to be right in the middle of it as we ate our meal! We did make an immediate complaint and the music was turned down and we were assured that we would be in the main restaurant the following day, but our meal had already been spoilt.
The children's entertainment (which was only on on the Friday evening) consisted of a very hardworking lady and although it wasn't too inspiring (she did the best she could do on her own), our 6 and 7yr olds seemed to enjoy it.
We then decided to move into the Doric room, where the bingo had just finished and the Cabaret was about to begin and again we were greeted by the awful smell of blocked drains. Apparently the Cabaret artist hadn't turned up but to be fair to the hotel they had drafted someone else in, perhaps the original one had been put off by the smell!
On day two we had breakfast in the Cumberland suite and were assured that we would be in the main restaurant that night. Breakfast was adequate but some of our party did say they would have liked a little bit more. All the waiters were very pleasant to be honest and the manager did come over to apologise about the evening before and for the duration of our stay, he did go out of his way to make sure we got everything we needed.
Earlier in the evening, we took the children for a swim. The pool was small but great for young children and they enjoyed the jaccuzi too. We were given plastic glasses to allow us to sit and watch the children with a drink which we were grateful for. The changing facilities and showers however were disgustingly filthy, in fact my 6yr old son actually refused to get in the shower as it was mouldy!
Evening meal that evening as promised, was served in the main restaurant and to be honest the food was very good, as was the service but unfortunately the smell was still overpowering to the point that it did begin to put us off our food! Standing at the bar was unbearable and I actually felt sorry for the bar staff who admitted that it was particularly bad that day but insisted that they didn't know what it was! Anyway to cut a long story short, it was obvious that the staff were trying to rush us through our meal as the bingo crew were already lining up outside the dining room, waiting for our table! Seeing around 50 pensioners brandishing their bingo dabbers was actually quite intimidating so we quickly ate up and left the room, only to find ourselves queuing up later to get a seat!
We decided 'If you can't beat em join em' so we armed ourselves with pens and braced the bingo scene - we didn't win, think we would have been lynched if we had have done! We were already in trouble for keeping them waiting whilst we ate!
To summarise, if you are aged 70 upwards, have a bad sense of smell and like an early shower, this is a wonderful hotel however if you are after a family break, try the Cliffs or the Claremont - much better facilities for children and much cleaner!

Room Tip: Don't accept a room on floor 1 - it will knock you out with the smell and heat! Also if you have...

Our annual Doric weekend was 8 - 10 February. This year there was 78 of us ranging from 1yr to 80 plus (but i wouldn't dream of asking how mush over the 80). As always the communication between myself and Jason and his staff in the run to the weekend excellent. The actual weekend itself went extremely smoothly. All the staff could not do enough for us, special mention has to got to Jason, James Linda and George on the bar for all there hard work.
Needless to say we will back next year as i can not imagine another hotel taking care of us the way the staff at the Doric do.

Room Tip: The Doric and Margret Ann suites are worth paying that little bit extra for

Great service, a group of 10 of us from the Breckfield Centre Liverpool visited the Doric, from Wed. 6th. of Feb. to Fri. 8th. feb. We have been there on a number of occasions and always felt welcomed, Nothing is to much trouble for the staff, from James to Kerrie in the dinning room to the Chambermaids, all of which where very friendly. The rooms where newly refurbished, very smart and well equiped and comfortable. The food was fab. a good variety of choice, and 5 courses, breakfast also good, choice of fresh fruit, yogurts and cereal with a choice of full English or any part of and Kippers. Bus and Tram stop right outside the Doric so easy acsess to town center. 2 pools (out door only in summer) and spa and steam room. Great time. Thank You Doric Hotel.

Room Tip: My room was 117. on the 3rd. floor. I could see the tower from my window and the sea & beach. A...
