“Clean, Comfortable, Tasty Food & Friendly Staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

Booked this break through David Urquhart & originally we should have been staying at one of the Brittannia hotels so following notification from them of the change in hotel I checked out Trip Advisor. I was horrified reading the reviews and quite frankly dreaded the 5 day break and considered cancelling. I am pleased I did NOT as we have had a great time. The rooms, like everyone says, are small but how much room do you need????? They were clean and serviced every day. Bathroom was very very small but contained toilet, wash basin & shower so what more could you ask for. Towels were replaced daily. Receptionist was extremely helpful and provided an extra 2 pillows even though there were already 4 on the double bed.
The food was hot and tasteful with ample choice, my only criticism would be for bigger portions of veg & potatoes to satisfy the bigger appetite.
Entertainment was provided every night along with the obligatory games of bingo - we loved it.
All in all you got what you paid for so if you want luxury go elsewhere,

Small rooms with tiny bathrooms. Very clean. Staff very obliging. Food of a good standard vegetarian catered for without problems. Entertainment every night can cause noise problems in some rooms. On bus/tram routes.
If you want more luxury this is not the place but if a basic holiday with minimum outlay is your aim them I would recommend.

Room Tip: 326 has larger bathroom

Read the reviews about this hotel after already booking so a bit apprehensive, but although the bedrooms were a bit on the small side we were not in them long. The food was very good value, ,and the waitress staff and receptionists were friendly and helpful. The entertainment was very good, and as the hotel was right on the promenade we could see the lights go on every night.Overall a most enjoyable stay would go back again.

Only reason for staying at this "hotel" was because of a last minute change through a David Urquhart booking. Upon arrival we were made to stay on the coach until our names were called to fill in a booking form before receiving any keys.(are we kids in school) Arriving at our room 318 there was grime around the shower, loose hairs on the bed linnen and in the drawers, cracked window frames, small loose rubbish and excessive dust around, saw dust and holes on the windowsil, there was cracks and stains across the ceiling. there was a hole in the back of the bathroom door, the shower kind of worked when it wanted, sometimes got some warm water, then went off completely mattress was completely knacked. we went down to the reception and joined the mass of other guests demanding an upgrade, we were told there would be a £20charge for an upgrade. i doubt it!!!! eventually after hr an half of waiting we eventually got our suitcase and the 'manager' came to inspect the room. according to him its normal to have a hotel room with cracks in the ceiling, the hairs on the bed could of been off the housekeepers-health and safety?hairnet???. there was a strong smell of damp aswell, and no wonder as at the end of the corridor there was a huge dipping damp patch on the ceiling, the view was laughable, a bulider with a gas canister on the roof and a shed an air con piping.after 2 days and phonecalls to and from david urquhart and our driver looking at our room we finally got an upgrade, even though when our driver was telling the dark haired girl behind the desk the state of our room, she didnt look at all bothered about what he was saying. the upgrade room was a better standard but we then got told by the moody blonde woman behind the desk that it would need a £10 deposit for a remote!!! FOOD- We tried the food on the first night which was chicken. me and my partner ordered the same and both chikens were extreamly pink. the veg we got with it was 6 new potatoes, 4 broccoli and some garden pies. a total joke for a 'meal'. the only good thing about the meal times was the waitering staff, very helpful and happy, nothing like the miserable other staff in the hostel/hovel/hotel. the dining room had marks on walls etc. cereal time was a joke, huge bowls of uncovered cereal, totally unhygienic. the lift they have in the hotel doesnt even stop level with the floors. the noise it makes when your in it is like there must be a hamster in a wheel moving the lift. overall a very bad hotel, should not be even allowed to be called a hotel. manager should be retrained and all staff be shown how to greet and act with guests, STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL, BETTER BET IS GET A TENT

Spent 5 days at this hotel last week. We found it to be basic but clean and comfortable and serviced every day. Good Food hot and quickly served. Very pleasant staff and good entertainment to suit all every night. If you want Hilton standards then the Hilton is just along the road but of course you would have to pay Hilton prices which would probably be more than three times what we paid.

Would we go back Yes.

We stayed at Hacketts in October for the third time this year and really enjoyed our stay one again. Hotel may need a bit of TLC but it is clean and the bedrooms are serviced every day. The staff at this Hotel are the best we have come across. The food s served very hot and it is beautiful.and varied. There were two entertainers every night and they were excellent. We went for the Blackpool lights and this year was the best with new lights.

Room Tip: If you are looking for the best value for money this is the Hotel you want to stay in.
