We also booked the hotel through KGB Deals. On arrival at 10am myself and my best friend were greeted by Allison who was extremely friendly and although very early we were welcomed and told our room would be ready in 10mins...we had appointments to keep and therefore requested for our bags to be left. Allison was extremely helpful! A brilliant start...thats where it ends!
We returned to the hotel at 5pm where we were given the key to a top floor double room...having asked for a twin when booking. When I returned to reception Allison informed me the hotel only had one twin room available which was sea view but more money but we could have it regardless. When we entered this room it was FREEZING!!! The window in the bathroom didn't work. The hot water was no where near HOT...lukewarm would have been an exaggeration. The window in the bedroom was drafty and the smell of the toilet was disgraceful...sewage! Oh and the tele only worked in black and white! On return to reception Allison informed that 'he' would be back soon and she would send him up. 20mins later no one had appeared and so I returned to reception for the 4th time! I found 'he' and he informed he would be up in 5 mins. He then came to the room and tried to shut the unshuttable bathroom window. He also tried, without success to fix the HOT water...it got to lukewarm. We were offered the option of moving rooms to another downstairs twin room (bear in mind Allison had told us there was only one twin room remaining). We accepted the offer and were told that someone would be in reception when we were ready. We collected our things and made our way to reception for the 5th time to find no one there. We waited and waited and waited...we rang the bell and waited...no one appeared. I then took matters into my own hands and went in search of a twin room! SURPRISINGLY, there were two twin rooms behind reception!!! We chose one and when I eventually found Allison she asked us to move for the 3rd time! So in our final room, 4th time lucky, the heating worked, the tele was in colour and the hot water was HOT.
Having returned from a night out, and may I add SOBER, it took us 6 mins in the freezing cold and pouring rain to unlock and open the front door. It was extremely stiff and the key would only go in if forced!
The breakfast had a good selection of cereals and the cooked option was edible although i would have preferred to have been able to choose what I had on my breakfast.
Having traveled extensively and stayed in many Blackpool establishments, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Overall an extremely dated establishment upstairs, i would struggle to give this a 2star. However, the room I found downstairs was of a 3star standard - although not the room we were offered on arrival nor the one offered to us the 2nd time...4th time lucky!
Wonderful service if you keep your mouth shut and don't complain but poor service if you happen not to like something, such as the smell of sewage in your bedroom and temperatures the Eskimos would complain about sleeping in - no one wants to know if something is wrong!
Ask for a new downstairs room! Do not accept upstairs rooms!
