Me and my family have been to this hotel on numerous occasions, and we cannot fault this hotel going back again for Christmas, an after reading the reviews about the receptionists was abit unsure about phoning up to ask for a sea view room, phoned this evening no problems what so ever changed the rooms straight away, and as for the reviews about the food me and my family have experienced no problems what so ever. And I cant understand why people who have got complaints about the dining facilities, don't speak to the the dining room manager and he'll sort it out, and as for the entertainment that was excellent, and as my husband is disabled one of the staff actually moved the car for us, if you treat the staff with respect they will go out their way to help

Room tip: Ask for a sea view room their the best ones, yeah you may have to pay extra but its worth the price.

have just spent a five day stay at the Lyndene, we went in a family party of 8, the food was excellent, and the dining room staff were excellent, efficient and friendly....the bed rooms were clean and fully adequate, and the entertainment was excellent.....now for the down side.......Apparently this hotel supports a local charity, we were informed of this on our first evening in the hotel when we had settled down for a relaxing drink ....also "treated" to a large screen video of the charity whilst staff came to every table selling things for this charity, they came round the lounges the second evening , collecting for the same, Now we had gone on this holiday break to relax, and i found it very bad taste to be badgered in this way. Also, on the second night when we went down for dinne, there was a music c.d on every table with amateur songs to be sold for the said charity and a letter exhorting us to buy it for £2....No, its not right for the hotel to be badgering guests in this way......Also during my stay i noted that some of the receptionist staff were rather supercilious, especially the males on reception.....not a good impression !!!

Room tip: try to have a sea view, lovely views and fresh sea air

Dear Guest
Many thanks for your kind comments regarding your recent stay at the Lyndene Hotel.
I do however think that it would wrong of me not to set the record straight on the important work that we do as an organisation for an outstanding local charity.
By way of background, The Donna's Dreamhouse charity provides a little light in the lives of terminally Ill children and their families by offering much needed holidays in Blackpool free of charge. It is only the generosity of local companies, organisations and individuals which make this possible.
However, rather than simply ask for donations for the charity, we offer guests the opportunity to purchase, for example, a charity CD, a flashing glow stick or a guardian angel etc, the full proceeds of which are then passed onto the charity. In this way the guests not only feel as though they are participating in supporting a wonderful cause but are also receiving a gift in return ( at the hotels cost).
There is no pressure put on any guest to participate although many kindly do.
By doing this we have been able to pass on tens of thousands of pounds over the years to support this charity, donations which become increasingly important during these difficult economic times.
Finally, the "big screen" showing of the charity DVD takes place in the ten minute interval between artists. The video lasts around three minutes and shows amusing extracts of Peter Kay filming Phoenix Nights at the Lyndene Hotel punctuated with many of the hotel staff members singing their own version of the hit song Amarillo. This always gets a big round of applause and over the five years which we have been showing this and offering guests the opportunity to purchase their own copy of the charity DVD, we have never had a single adverse comment ( I would estimate this at roughly half a million " guest nights" and no complaints).
I would rather risk one negative comment than sacrifice the support we provide to this outstanding charity.

Have just returned from a weekend at Lyndene........the parking is diabolical, basically only enough spaces for the staff, was told by staff that with having a disabled badge we could park on the main road but you could only stay there 2 hours. As im disabled we struggled getting the car close enough to the hotel. First evening we were shown to the dining area which was downstairs only to find that we had to go back upstairs to fetch drinks as no bar downstairs. The food was edable....just!.....Late afternoon and into the evening there was a rancid smell of drains in the hotel room. not enough seating in bar area to view entertainment. Lift was out of order, so had to climb 2 flights of stairs to get to room and getting bags downstairs when we left was a nightmare! This hotel is very tired and in serious need of refurbishment, decor old and peeling wallpaper. This is a project for Alex Polinski!! or Ruth Watson. The only positives about this hotel was the sea view and most staff were pleasant and accomodating. At a cost of £268 for 2 people for 2 nights we were well and truly ripped off!...Its also the hotel i ve stayed in that you pay the bill on arrival....wonder why??

We are all for people being able to read reviews to obtain a correct impression of a hotel or any other establishment, but unfortunately some people seem to enjoy giving a less than accurate review because things may not have gone their way. I would like to reply to a number of points raised. Firstly as far as car parking is concerned, by saying only a few spaces on car park, and these mostly being taken by staff, please read on and make your own mind up. The hotel can park over 80 cars on the carpark and the owner is the only member of staff allowed to park on the car park. Secondly, this guest says disabled parking is limited to 2 hours. As the hotel is situated on the Promenade, there is unlimited free disabled carparking for all disabled permit holders 24 hours a day opposite the hotel and for the whole 3 mile length of the Promenade. Thirdly this guests complains about having to go upstairs to get drinks. Why ? When there are 15 waiters employed to serve food and drinks to guests at their table. Fourthly, this guest says there is not enough seating. We have enough seating for well over 350 guests. There is never more than 300 guests in the cabaret lounges at any one time. Yes we would all like to get the best seats every night, but unfortunately we are not all royalty and dont have that privilege. Fifthly, this guest says the lift was out of order. This lift is monitored by Otis, and they know before the hotel does if the lift is out of order. It was never out of order during this guests stay and it can be proved by Otis's records. Sixthly, this guests says they struggled with luggage. Again why, when we have a luggage porter. Guests only have to request assistance. Seventhly, this guest says the hotel is tired and needs decorating. The whole of the hotel was only redecorated recently. Trip advisor readers, please note, we are the busiest and one of the most popular hotels in Blackpool and although we feel that this review is very unfair we dont feel it is damaging to our business as you only have to read many of the other reviews. Unfortunately, reviewers such as this person, by writing such reviews can be very damaging to smaller businesses and establishments, who work extremely hard and dedicate their lives to their business and find it much harder to fight back on accusations that are unjustified.
