Good all rounder this hotel, my family and I have came back to this hotel for over 5 years. Entertainment every evening and the occasional afternoon - includes a game of bingo that all the family including the kids can join in.
Breakfast and Dinner is carvery style not to be confused with buffet style as the staff do plate the food up for you (usually choice of 3 - meat , fish or other) and you pick the extras for example fried bread, hash browns, beans, tomatoes, black pudding, scrambled egg or choice of veg and gravy for dinner. If you are not able to carry plate back to table or pick it the staff will get it for you, the dining room can be very busy at times and staff work hard to keep it a smooth service.
Some rooms more spacious than others, bathrooms a good size. I have been allocated a sea view room as have my family without paying a supplement but if you don't want to take the chance £5 per person per night is charged.
This hotel is ideal for using public transport as there is a bus stop and trams stops for both directions right outside and across the road. The new trams are fab!!
My only gripe was this room had no mirror at a height where i could sit to dry hair, make up other rooms i have been in had dressing table mirrors but when i requested a mirror i got one.
All the staff are pleasant and well dressed in their uniforms.

Room Tip: rooms at the corner of building in particular 312 have 2 large windows and because its the corner th...

we arrive on friday 17th august a family of 7 (kids parents etc) i had booked a family room, double and a single for my mum but on booking was given a double at no extra charge apart from single occupancy - on arrival the rooms given was 2 x double and a family for 3 and was told by the arrogant older receptionist there had been an error and the double which my mum had would or can sleep one of my children - absolutely not then to find the first room 216 was filthy and damp smelling and the shower door loose they changed me to room 209 of which my dog has better conditions the bathroom was very tired with broken tiles, there was no shower head so you need to fill the bath if needed i used the shower in my mums room (206) as i would not let my dog use our bath in that room, absolutely filthy and to top it off i am still awaiting a conversation with the owner as quoted by 'steph' the Duty manager - i want a refund of some sort!!! i have also got back home and got three bites on my arm which i am quessing could be flees from the filthy carpets and beds!!! lets see if i get a response from my official complaint form

Room Tip: Just dont risk going there even though some people say its lovely they obviously do not have standa...

Spent the weekend here-The outside looked tired and could do with a repaint, inside there was signs of wear and tear in the public areas as was in the room we were given. It gave all the signs of a tired old building. On the plus side the staff were very helpful and the food was of a very high standard. It is a shame has been allowed to deteriate

This wasn't the hotel we booked when we made our booking with Travelstyle so we were a bit unsure what to expect. However we needen't have worried our room was superb, large and well equipped with all that we needed it was clean and we had fresh towels every day bar one.
The food was amazing, great choices and quality ingredients.
All the staff were friendly and hard working and nothing was too much trouble. Dean often made us smile with his wind ups, it was a great atmosphere.
The entertainment was A1 especially Tickety Boo, however the tables in the cabaret room could do with a move round because not everyone could see the stage and sometimes it was difficult to get into your seat as they were too close to the next table.
Great holiday will definately be back (hopefully for the illuminations.

Do not go there. We had a smoking room (if you could call it a room). It was a cupboard in the bowels of the hotel. The window was nailed down, and the view (I say this tongue in cheek) was old matresses and bedsteads strew in a back yard.

Room Tip: no tips to help travellers, just don't go there

We stayed here in 2011 and had a lovely experience therefore decided to return in 2012 staying on Monday 30th July for 4 nights. What a mistake!! 5 adults (1 in a wheelchair) and 2 children. We paid extra for the accessible room... ( surely this is discrimanating against the less able bodied). Arriving at the hotel we were told we had to pay to park outside the hotel... £5.00 per night per car, surely this should be free at least to people who have wheelchairs. The attitude of the lady on reception was not what you would expect from a hotel wanting your business, abrupt manner to say the least. The Accessible Room (for my parents) was ok apart from flooding every day, informing staff about it, advised it was sorted and the same thing happened the following day, and the next....and the next... The bath in our room was full of hairs which we cleaned ourselves but it looked like the bath itself had not been cleaned properly for a long time. The beds were lumpy cheap matresses BUT this did not matter to us as our room was right next to the lift therefore we were kept awake each night with the noise!!!!! There were many other small things wrong but we decided to make the most of the break. The entertainment room is badly designed so most people cannot see the show. On a positive note Dean and George in the bar are sociable and always wore a smile. My advice to the owners would be to employ more staff like these two and get some decent cleaners, refurbish rooms with new curtains and decor, get your staff to use tongs for the toast at breakfast. Some parts of the hotel are clean and tidy however, if I had the chance to go back and stay the answer would be no!!

We arrived 27-7-12 around 2.30pm. They told us 3pm is the check in time we wait and no body came after 3pm so my husband asked then they give us a key. we mentioned when we booked a room that my husband is slightly disabled very disappointed they give us a room which my husband needs to climb in the steps and request another room when we got to the room which they said is the best room we noticed the carpet is full of puffy hair or dogs hair seems no one clean the room, the cabinet drawer is broken and we need to deposit £10 for remote control but its not working either 3x they been changed till the male staff came and check (rubbish tv) when we got to the shower the water is very cold, no heating and the shower door is fallen to my head . my goodness is really really horrible placed. we report to the reception and we moved to another room next day which another disaster front door is hardly open,no telephone and the window toilet handle is broken and all the winds going into our room. we report many times and seems no body bothered. This is the first hotel I came across that asking £10 deposit for remote control. Advice dont go to this hotel as its needs refurbished all the rooms...
